    Body work Guru's

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
This coming spring I will be installing my S4 sideskirts along with couple other exterior bits.

Now, I am trying to put them on with quality as well as budget in mind. The painting will be done by a very well established/trusted body shop so quality will be guaranteed. Now here is where I am torn.

I still need to purchase some S4 lower door moldings. So here is my question.
Would it be cheaper to take off the current lower trim, grind off the clips, and install the sideskirts that way or just buy the expensive trim and install the sideskirts that way.

Keep in mind my A4 is Santorin so they might have to paint more then just the lower portion of the door. Any help is appreciate.

If you grind them off you will need to re-paint your whole door. Well worth it IMO

I agree with you but repainting 4 doors in Santorin is not cheap.

    Is your car Santorin?
    and
How much of the work did you do yourself?

If you are doing the grinding and smoothing yourself, you better know a painter. Most painters will not paint over someone elses body work.

Yeah I can totally see why.

I would not do any of the work. Ask me anything mechanical and I will fix it but when it comes to body work I am clueless.

Id call around and get some quotes. It is well worth it. But it might be more costly at times.

    Re: Body work Guru's

Here's what it'd look like if you shaved the lower part of the door... unfortunately it's on silver! And with Rieger V1 sides. I don't think it'd look right if you did the S4 skirts without the lower door moldings... but I have to confess I've never seen that combination. Good luck.
