    Tire Flaps... Good or Fail?

    Throwing a feeler out...
Do any of you have tire mud flaps on your B7, either OEM or otherwise??
They keep the dirt spatters off the paint, but is it possible for them to look good and complement the car?
Drop some pics if you have flaps on your car. Thanks all!

I have the oem ones, I'd say they don't look that bad, they kind of complement the black and white theme i have going on

Re: Tire Flaps... Good or Fail?

I was considering flaps when i lived up north to stop salt from kicking up, but down in FL I don't have the problem and I can wash my car any day so I don't see a functionality to have them...

Yeah, that isn't too bad and I have phantom black so I might could get away with it. Does it look good from the back? I think being in socal I'll just put up with up for a bit, weather is good most of the time.

I bought the OEMs when I got the car. I test fit one of them, took it off, and returned them.

Looks cleaner without them in my opinion.

I think that the car looks a lot better with them off. I have been thinking about getting some though with all the dirt roads and nasty weather I have to navigate...

In the snow they're a PIA because the snow gets stuck in the wheel well.

I think that would be better than having snow, salt, and mag chloride thrown all over the car though.

all of that stuff will still get splashed and sprayed all over your car from the other cars/trucks/suv's on the road.

I have 'em. I like 'em. Helps prevent salt, dirt, etc from kicking up onto the lowers. I haven't had any issues with them and snow. Not sure I understand all the strong negative reaction towards them though esp. compared to some other stuff some people slap on their cars

Re: Tire Flaps... Good or Fail?

To the OP you're in Cali I doubt you need them, I got mine for free from the dealer and I probably wouldn't pay for them because no matter what you do dirt salt whatever will still get on the car

Re: Tire Flaps... Good or Fail?

If you can color match them, then it looks like they would be fine. Im not sure, but I think you can buy the paint color from the dealership.

Re: Tire Flaps... Good or Fail?

Another thing people may not realize, is over time they rub the paint/finish and create lines that are about as ugly as the flaps themselves. I'd say unless you live in a snowy climate like the ibis white guy (not racist!) above, it's better to have a little extra water up on the car than permanent scratches around your wheel wells.
