High Pitch noise at 3200 RPM

I have this high pitch noise that sounds like it is coming from the driver side front end. It isn't very loud, I have to shut the radio off and listen to hear it. Only happens on the highway when in 5th gear around 3200-3400 RPM (around 75 mph) and only when I put a constant pressure on the pedal, if I accelerate the noise goes away. I read postings about the dental drill noise and the turbo failing (watched some videos on youtube) but my noise isn't nearly as noticeable and sounds different from the ones I saw. The best way to describe the noise is if you hit a tuning fork or a pinging noise. Does anybody have any ideas what it might be? It is a 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro
