Oil leaking!! Pictures in side!! help please!!

Ok my car is leaking oil underneath the engine rite at the oil filter. i dont know where its coming from but its leaking. I have pictures that you guy can look at. Anybody know of anything??



You can see where it drips from.



started my car this morning (its been 1 week) for about 10 minutes and this puddle is there. but it always leaks like this when parked. dont know if it still does while driveing.

Looks like your oil cooler, but I cant say for sure, somebody more knowledgeable will chime in soon i'm sure. If I remember correctly though, once you pull the filter, its just two hex bolts and a gasket. The gasket is what you need to replace.

I'd agree, however I would also suggest a different filter during your next oil change.

so it could be the oil gasket??? hard to replace??????

oil cooler probably.. does the leak go up any higher or is that the highest point and where the oil starts?

Thats about how much it leaks from time to time.

If there is nothing coming down from above I would guess oil cooler or the lines connecting to the cooler. Looks like it's been doing that for a while and since everything behind it is covered in oil I'd say it does leak while driving.

That's a lot of oil to loose so I'd get it fixed asap and make sure that the oil level stays high enough to get to a shop.

I would suggest spraying engine cleaner all over the area with oil.That way you can tell exactly where the oil is coming from.

I know this thread is old, so i hope i don't get to much crap. but i didn't want to start a new one, and this guy has pictures. :) But did you ever get this fixed? Just had mine do this too. Its been a slow leak getting worse. Not cool.

like its been mentioned its probably the oil cooler, they tend to go bad

what if the oil is coming from above the oil cooler but still right in the general area, what might then be leaking

Wow, that's an easy one.
There is a big o-ring between the oil cooler and the stand. It's like $10.

^^^X2 on the oil cooler gasket !-ecstuning has them for about $3

when i replaced mine a couple months ago, the nut holding the oil cooler in place was hand loose!!

Your obvious dripping leak appears to be the oil cooler. But there is oil coming from other places too. Check your valve cover gaskets. It's also extremely likely your leaking from you cam chain tensioner gaskets. Gaskets are cheap but the labor is quite extreme. If your timing belt is near due or hasn't been done though its a great time to get it all done. All of your front seals: Crank, cam and cam chain tensioner seals as well as valve cover gaskets at the same time. You will save hundreds in labor but if you have it done it will still be over 1k to fix all that.

i replaced the oil cooler o-ring a few months ago. Could the upper oil pan gasket be leaking. i've been looking for threads but havnt seen anyi=one having a problem with the upper gasket leaking

same here. my turbo oil feed/return lines are leaking right at the turbo
