I picked up a battery on the way home to swap in tonight.

The question is, how does this plastic shroud thing back by the firewall come off so that i can get to it?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Question.

Whats the little black vacum line that went from the top of the OE battery to up under where the wiper arm motor is?

There is nowhere for it to attach to the replacement battery.

Vent tube. Not needed with any good quality battery. I just tucked it up under the plastic shield.

You must have taken your time... :-)

You have to marry the fob to the car (it is a anti-theft "feature"). There is a trick to doing it but you'll have to search since I don't remember off hand. I think you have to put it in the ignition and turn to "on" and leave it there for 30 seconds...or something similar.

Not really.. The battery was just spent..

I'll wait for someone else to chime in who knows for certain and check back in the AM.

    I didn't... post up please?

My battery died this morning so I got it replaced. However, my key no longer does the windows and stuff. I VAGed the car to do from the remote instead of sticking it in the door and turning the key, but now, neither method works.

I searched and came accross a thread that said to put the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position so that all the warning lights etc come up, then to press and hold the unlock button on the key fob for 3 seconds (yes, while its still in the ignition), and then to let go.

Then remove the key and see if the doors lock and unlock etc.. Mine worked just fine. Hope that fixes it.
