    Twin 1 too low?

Alright so i've been looking on here about all the reviews for the Twin 1, and the general consensus is that its fucking amazing. Now the real question is, is it supposed to hang as low as I have seen in some of the pictures on here? or did those people just do a crappy job on the install? I know its going to be lower than the stock exhaust, but some of the pictures look like it would scrape on flat ground. Granted I'm at stock height, so I'd be a little higher than the majority of people on here (until I get some coilovers ), but what do those that have it have to say? Is it too low? was it just bad installs that i've seen pictures of?

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

Yeah, I have the SSAutoChrome (based off the Twin2) and I would scrap at stock height on big speed bumps with a few people in the car. Now my car is lowered I hit it quite often, so I have to learn how to drive with it. I do need to raise my car up a bit more cause I'm sitting at 24 3/4 all around. Thinking of bringing it up to about 25 1/4 to see if I can handle that. Right now I'm having trouble with minor speed bumps. I'll try and take some shots of mine as well tonight.

thanks guys, i appreciate it. The Twin 1 is already on its way, so I guess i'll just have to adjust the driving style once its on.

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

here's my twin one, back when I had a cup kit, H&R springs/Bilstein shocks. I couldn't make it down my own driveway! Thing was 1.5 inches from the ground, now I'm on H&R coilovers and 18 inch wheels and with one or two people I can make it down my driveway but with 3 or 4 I will scrape the nuts on the hanger.

Yeah, I run the Twin1 and it definitely hangs low. But the fitment is really quite good. There's a pic in my pictureposter: http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/1...ontowtruck.jpg. That's with STaSIS Tracksport coilovers.

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

So this is the only picture I have for now, I couldn't get out to snap some pics tonight but you can see it angle down towards the rear tire. Also I think the clamp in the middle is the thing that's scraping so I need to see if that can be rotated so the bolts aren't facing down.

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

i am on stasis coilovers and 18 inch wheels.. and it hangs very low.. i scrape over some driveways and stuff but just as much as my front end will scrape also... if your low and go too fast over anything you will scrape something. If you are stock ride height dont worry about it. Twin 1 is fine at stock height.

It looks very nice with the pipes hanging low IMO :)

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

my buddy had a noggy s4 before his friend totalled it, and at stock height he would still scrape, but as others have said, its the clamp right after the DP's that scrape, if that could be rotated, i would think you'd be OK, but I'm not sure if you'd want to do that as it's kind of a guard from scraping the hell out of the piping. I'd rather scrape some nuts and bolts than the pipes!

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

my ride height is at 25.5 on all corners and i have yet to scrape my twin1 on anything. granted i take speed bumps and driveways pretty slow

here's a few pics i dragged my lazy ass outside to take, sorry for the crappy low res point and shoot. (I know pics 2 and 3 bear no relevance to exhaust height)

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

Dammit I forgot my USB thing to put pics from the camera onto my comp. Here's a camera phone pic which probably doesn't help at all.

Honestly though, when I look at it, I agree with what AudiSportB5 S4 said. When the stock exhaust was on there, the clamps were turned so the nuts and bolts were up, but I left the clamps (with my new non-rusted-pieces-of-shit nuts and bolts) down with the Twin1 just to make it easier to get to. Most likely, this is what scrapes. It never scrapes on speed bumps, it only on reeeeally steep humps.

It's not a main concern of mine. I wouldn't not get the Twin1 just because of that. It DOES sound amazing:

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

If installed correctly the Twin1 and Twin2 will hang no lower than the lowest point of the car.

Anyone with a lowered car, regardless of make/model, should approach speed bumps and inclines with more caution.

If you guys are having scraping issues I would double check to make sure it's installed properly.

If you have the clamps turned down, check them out as well. It could be the source of the scraping.

I have a Twin 2 system, on Stasis track/sports and it doesn't hang low at all. Looks pretty damn stock on mine. No scrapes at all. Only thing I hit is my AWE stabilizer bar on speed bumps. Pretty f'in sweeet I tell ya. Might do a mid muffler delete soon, Twin 2 is a bit too quiet for me.

Do you have any pics? Curious to see how low your car is and see how the system hangs underneath. My system scraps very easily on small speed bumps.

So I just had my clamp adjusted so the bolts aren't face down and so far so good on the scraping. I have gone over bigger speed bumps without a problem. I have a few pics that I'll try and post later but the clearance seems good now.

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

So whats your guys suggestions on Fender to Ground for the twin 1? I just ordered one and am about my coilovers along with an alignment when i put it on. I am at about 24.75" right now on 18" DTM RS4 (225/40/18) I have a fairly steep driveway so i don't wanna scrape on the way up then back down ( it peaks like this ^ so i barely miss hitting the middle of my car everytime and i am scared that after putting on the twin 1 i will scrape so thats why i wanna raise it.)

    Re: Twin 1 too low?

Alright well I just got the Twin 1 put on and the sound is pure sex. It's awesome. And considering i'm on stock suspension, it hangs fine. Not low at all. I doubt i will even have to change driving habits until i drop the car. The way it hangs now, i feel like youd have to be SLAMMED for it to really cause a problem or anything.

It does hang kinda crooked though. Up and off to the right. The mechanic who put it on (works at Jack Daniels Audi and has put multiple twin 1's on) said that its never 100% straight and he played with it for a while to try and get it as best he could. Its actually touching the bumper a little bit. I was just curious if everyone else has had this issue. You'd probably only notice it if you were looking at it for that reason, otherwise its not that big of a deal. But i know, and it bothers me.

I just installed my twin 2 last weekend... fitment is perfect. Tips are perfectly lined up in the bumper (doesn't hang weird and it isn't touching one side or the other). Fitment was great under the car too . It's not touching any heat shield or any part of the subframe... Maybe Jack Daniels should learn to install and adjust exhausts? I'm not sure what's so difficult about it, I had 0 problems.

funny, my car originally came from jack daniels audi. i wouldn't worry too much if the fitment isn't absolutely perfect. my tips list a little to the left as you can see from my post above from weeks ago. sound is awesome though, screams at wot

Glad to read that you are satisfied.

Regarding Twin1 tips: since there is no rear muffler, sometimes the tailpipes can get misaligned during the shipping process. It is easy to fix. Just grab the two tips and push up or down on the one that is too high or too low. The bracket that holds the two pipes together can bend a few mm with not much muscle effort. Quick and easy to fix and it will stay that way.

Quick and easy to fix and it will stay that way.
i'll give that a shot today. thanks

My twin II came with nothing. You reuse your stock sleeve clamps.
