City Light compatability with 5G ballast

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just got a set of single xenon ecodes. My OEM lights have the 5G ballast. I read that the ecode city lights will not work with the 5G. Is this true? I know that I will need to swap the wiring harness/ adapter for the ballast. Is there anything else i should be aware of? I used the search, but couldn't find the answer I need.
Also, can anyone recommend a place to get a bright, 4300k matching city light? Either LED or non.
If I use the LED without regulators, I know I will get an error on the DIS, but will the bulbs work fine? Thanks for the help fellas!

Re: City Light compatability with 5G ballast

City light will only work when the lights are on (parking or low beams).. Otherwise there not on... What I did to solve this was VAG my car into Canada mode so the fogs are always on, and so are the city lights... Car looks awesome.... So i decided to keep my stock 5g ballasts

I thought the city lights took the place of parking lights. Therefore, if you turn the headlight switch one turn, just your citys would come on... right?

yupp you got it Rommulus... The steady stream of light that would normally goto the amber lights is re-directed to the city lights! when you turn the ambers blink, not the city lights...

Re: City Light compatability with 5G ballast

So we can confirm that the 5G will work for the city lights.

Anyone have any input regarding the bulb question... ?

Re: City Light compatability with 5G ballast

The city lights have nothing to do with the ballasts, the citylights are H6W halogen, not xenon. I have philips bluevision city bulbs and they aren't close to 4300k, they are pretty yellow looking. LEDs would be your best bet. See if Winston is still selling citylight bulb/regulator kits. the LEDs will burn out fast with out the regulators. search 'MCHammered city light LED'
