popped your engine? Sounds bad, you want to get rid of it for cheap? What's the damage?

    Re: AEB motor question.

connecting rod threw the side of the block i believe. I got an engine already lined up to buy. but not sure if its auto or manual. It should be no problem to find a good crank though.

well considering you threw a rod I would HOPE that your going to build the motor this time.. unless ur not making the power and ur just guessing as to what happened.

    Re: AEB motor question.

how exactly did you throw a rod? I've seen the AEB handle massive power unbuilt so i'm just wondering what you were runnin?

oh and i don't think there's two different motors for AT/MT....but i think these other guys know a lot better than me.

No. The crankshaft is different. And unless your considering building the motor i would not buy an auto motor, as the manual's are pretty available.

    Re: AEB motor question.

The difference is in the bolt pattern. It's completely different for the automatic/Tiptronic cars as it is for the manual trans cars.

Offer still stands. If you want to get that freshly opened up engine assembly out of your garage I'll pay you for it. My interest depends on the price though.

Im building the motor, my motor was on is way out and I kinda just finished it off. Im positive a rod is snapped cause I was doing a third gear pull logging, and then the oil level light came on and the car died. Pulled the dipstick out hardly any oil in it and the car wouldnt turn over cause the rod is probably wedged between the block and crank. Im going to visit the junk yard payday, to see if i can pick up a rebuildable core. Can I eyeball it and tell if it is an auto or manual?

Well here is the deal im pretty much broke until taxes come back. Depending what my next few checks look like and if i can line up somewhere to pull it ill contact you. What do you need off of the engine? Hmm my question is to you, what can you use off of and engine the snapped a rod. The head is probably toast, the block is toast and the crank who knows what the deal is with that. But hey, if you can use something that i dont need its yours. :)

I don't own a cherry picker, but if you need a hand I'd be willing to help out. I know I'm not in the Detroit area, but I'm sure we can work something out, if you need a hand and have a place to yank it.

Hey thanks for the offer, that is very nice of you. What parts do you need off of the junk motor? I have another motor lined up all im interested in is the block and head. All the rest of the stuff will be replaced (factory pistons, rods, crank).

    Re: AEB motor question.

to be entirely honest the head is the money maker. I wasn't sure what you needed off the original block, or what comes with the spare one you're swapping in. Feel free to PM me when the time comes for the swap, I'm more than willing to take some spare parts off your hands if you need some help.

I'm just a broke ass college student that could use some spare cash on the side, I was a tech for >3yrs, I'm just going a different route with the next degree.
