    Can you fit 255/30/19's on a B7 S4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a B7 S4 and was wondering if you can fit 255/30/19 tires on a B7 S4? I am running OZ Ultraleggera's (19X8.5 ET35) with H&R coilovers. If I need to I can raise the coils up to avoid rubbing also.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Re: Can you fit 255/30/19's on a B7 S4

hmm very possible, I ran a 245/35/19 on my pervious B7 S4 on 19x9 +29. I had to roll the sh!t out of the fenders to eliminate the rubbing, but that was due to the extreme offset.

Well 255/30/19 is the WIDEST you can go on an 8.5 wide wheel (according to manufacture tire specs). So lets set that as the max. What size tire are you running now with the OZ wheels?

If you are running lets say 235/35/19 on the OZ wheels right now, going to a 255/30/19 tire will increase your overall section width by .5"

    235/35/19 = 8.5" section width
    255/30/19 = 9.0" section width

So the tire is going to buldge out slightly more on the sides compared to a 235.. about .25" outwards on each side. Which means you'll lose .25" of clearance between the fender and tire. I am pretty sure you won't rub, but don't take my word for it 100%. Go take rough measurement if you can from your tire sidewall to the fender now. Another experiment to try is jacking up one corner of the car so the opposite corner sinks down really low and the tire tucks. That should give you another idea of how close you already are and how much room you have to play with.

    I believe with the STaSIS S4 set-up, they're running 255/30/19.

you can even run 265-30-19, but thats ET37. I'd say you'll probably be fine, but with ET35 it will be close. You may need to trim a little liner, but that should be it.

there's an a4 running 275! but then you have to get wheels with a higher offset to accomodate. I will tell you that if you are lowered, 255 on 19x8.5 ET35 are not gonna work very well because 19x8.5 et35 w/ 245/35/19 are extremely flush on a stock suspension (for the front wheels, less so for the rear), so if you lower it and fatty the tires, i'm betting serious rubbing.

I am running 245/35/19 Contisport 3's right now with zero rubbing. I think I might just order one tire and see how it sets up before I order the rest.

wow those tires have a section width of 9.8" . The 255/30/19 tires I've been looking at have a 9" section width. So if that's the case and you have no rubbing now, you will def. be in the clear with 255/30/19 on the OZ wheel.

    R u mentioning me?

You can easily go with 255-30-19 with a liner screw holder remove.. I use it without ANY rubing issues..

BTW I hve et35 with 8.5 rims with my 255-30-19's..

People need to realize that with enough camber you can fit a very wide tire, but you have to make other sacrifices. Some are using huge tires but have to run some camber that they would have a greater contact patch on the normal sizes with less camber adjustments. And there is the wear issues.

Yup, my buddy is runnin 255/30/19s on his STaSIS S4 (i'm running 245/35/19s on mine). It all depends on the tire you use, because although they all say the same number, they differ in widths. His Toy Proxes 255s fit with no problem, but he tried the PZeros and they rubbed bad! Even sliced into the side of the tire. Just check your widths

Can you post a pic of the screw you are talking about. Or if you can just take one on a cell phone and e-mail it to me. I will PM my e-mail address if you can do that.

Yes you can find the section widths on Tirerack.com from the tires spec sheets.

You can find the screw in the top of the front fenders, its right on the lip of the fender. All it does is hold the liner in on that spot, but even if removed the liner is still wedged in pretty tight. Whenever rubbing begins in the front, thats the first solution that almost always solves the problem.

Awesome, thanks alot. The tire I was looking for was the Michelin PS2 in a 255/30/19 and the specs were listed as NA on Tire Rack. After looking through the Michelin site I found out that the tire has a section width of 10.24" when mounted on a 9" wheel. Will this section width be bigger or smaller when mounted on 8.5" wheel?

Also, I am pretty certain but not 100%. Don't Michelin's run a little smaller than other brands?

    Thanks for the help guys,

I second that - please post pics. I want to run as wide without rubbing as possible without using camber.

    ^^

Actually I do not have any pictures right now, just check your inner fender by your fingers, through the middle point you gonna touch little D shaped holder. Cut it away and you'r done

I think its 265/30/19 with 38 et, the possible widest setup.. of course depends of your tires' brand..

PSA: some tires run narrow, while other brands run wide.

Nice, I bet those are light as F for a 19x9.5 wheel.

you are correct. it really lightened up the steering which was my main complaint after coming from RWD cars. I don't have to fight the car at high speed turns any more. They weigh 18 lbs, vs. 28lbs stock. Dropping 40lbs at the corners is never a bad thing. After CO's and rear sway, she should be perfect. I'm just glad there is no rubbing, because I heard so many people having to strip their inside lining with 19's. It's all about the offset.
