    Question Transmission Leak?

    Hi All,

I'm still new to the under-lyings of my car since I haven't had to deal with them much.

Yesterday I noticed a quarter-sized puddle of red liquid on the garage floor. Of course I begin thinking transmission leak. I had to get to work so I just wiped up the mess. This morning, same leak in the same spot. I looked under the car and there was evidence of a few drips coming from the plastic protection plate, just to the right (passenger-side) of center.

Any idea where this fluid could be coming from? Anyone had the same experience?

    Any help is appreciated!

    Re: Transmission Leak?

sounds to me like coolant... I could be wrong but was leaking coolant once and our coolant is red(ish) in color or orange I think our transmission oil is gray(ish)

    Re: Transmission Leak?

Not all tranny fluids are the same.

Is the leaking fluid more like oil or water in texture?

Is it a manual transmission or automatic?

    Check your coolant level.

    Re: Transmission Leak?

    Thanks guys,

I totally forgot that it could be coolant. I'm just used to the green stuff that goes in my bike.

I have a manual and the liquid seems to be closer to the consistency of water than an oil now that I think about it.

I'll check my coolant level and the hoses to see what the deal is. Hopefully it's something miniscule.
