    very frustrated...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ok, I'll make a long story short. For the last few months i've been battling against "limp mode" and it would be happening mostly in 5th gear when the car begin's to build boost, all of a sudden I have nothing, no power what's so ever. I would have to pull over and shut the car off and turn it back on just to retrieve power again. I would also get "over boosting" codes. I took it to the dealer and they told me that they needed to replace the cams because the LOBE's were worn. So, I had that done and when i got the car back it drove perfect. A few day's later the same thing happens all over again. I have no clue what to do, here's a list of my mods; APR stage 2, eurocode TP, Apr exhaust, Greddy FMIC, Carbonio Intake and forge DV.

    Re: very frustrated...

The only code you have is overboost?

If so, sounds like the n75 valve to me but could be the d.v. or pcv system but that's almost always an underboost code.

Yes, there were more codes that led the mechanic to replace my cams, I dont remember them but I do have the invoice in the car I'm sure it's on there.

008851 - Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve (N276): Mechanical Malfunction
    P2293 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent - MIL ON
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 10100010
    Fault Priority: 0
    Fault Frequency: 8
    Mileage: 3641 km
    Time Indication: 0
    Date: 2006.06.30
    Time: 08:10:39

    Freeze Frame:
    RPM: 626 /min
    Load: 44.7 %
    Speed: 0.0 km/h
    Temperature: 86.0°C
    Temperature: 45.0°C
    Absolute Pres.: 990.0 mbar
    Voltage: 13.716 V

I wonder if the referenced valve is actually the issue and he only corrected some of the problems with your high pressure fueling system.

The above document includes the actual TSB the dealership tech is referencing. He followed the oem repair instructions to the letter so no fault to him.

However, it is possible that in addition to the cam lobe and follower issue you were experiencing that the actual N276 is bad as well. If this is the case, your issue was only partially resolved.

Do you have a cel now? Can you scan for codes?

    Re: very frustrated...

might your high fuel pressure is going bad. I would take it to the dealer & tell them your having same problem. Also my guess is that dealership doesnt know you have aftermarket mods.

also does it happen all the time in 5th gear or just when your WOT??

it depends on the gear im in bcuz WOT in 1st or 2nd sometimes feel's fine and sometimes it feels like there's no boost. The dealership is FULLY aware of all my mods, I do need to go back.

oh man, the same shit happened to me...
I know this makes no sense, but im going to take a bite and say it anyways. i had an Ecode TP in my car when the limp mode used to happen (i noticed the other people in this thread that were complaining of the same problem have the Ecode TP installed as well) the dealership (my friends work there) told me to take the TP out if they were going to do with work under warranty... i took the TP out... and i got no more limp mode. audi couldn't even figure out what was wrong with my car. all they did was change a damn filter... is there a way that the TP could be connected to this "limp mode" because it hasn't even happened once in the last month since ive pulled it out....

    Re: very frustrated...

Ive been reading thread's from some1 on the forums named Ih8OEM and he seemed to have similar problems, he went to REVO and his issues went away. I was conned into thinking it was my DV that went out and I ended up buying the upgraded one from FORGE and i still have the same problem, and my stock DV was perfectly fine. I want to make sure that it would be fuel pump issues b4 i buy it.

Ive also noticed that after my TP install this started to become more and more progressive but not every1 on here that is running a stage 2 file, is having the same issue. I doubt it's the tp as well. could it be my pcv system?

Potentially. It seems as tho everyone who has these types of problems on this forum is running APR software....

Really? I've been unaware of any potential issues with our ecu upgrade.

Would someone who is experiencing the issue be willing to provide some datalogging for me so I can see what's up?

Yeh..I'm not saying it is..It's just whenever someone has a problem like this, it has been with APR software. Probably just a coincidence tho.

    Re: very frustrated...

    ^ u have S-chip, or X-chip?.

I Have been chipped with X-chip for 2 years and barely started to go into limp mode the past 2~3 months because of the cam lobe and fuel pump that I got checked out. I replaced them both with a HPFP and a new OEM cam lobe, now my car performs just like it did when I first got chipped...All better now.

Then again I have never put in a TP but I am now running the Milltek Hi-FLow Cat.

I see. I have read that people with test pipes also seem to experience problems like this. Do what Acidrome did and have those parts checked out.
