    lets talk engine flush.....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
OK!! so I am contemplating in doing a presureized engine flush to my 1999 A6quattro 2.8. For those that don't know what is....it's a procedure that attaches a vacume hose on top of the engine and another hose where the oil filter is located then some sort of oil based chemical heats up to about 150 degress and enters the engine via the vacume hoses and cleans up all the oli sludge, debiris, carbon..etc

it cost about 75 to 100 bucks..people swear it makes the engine breath young again! the draw back is that no auto manufacturer even audi claims that is nesecerry to do to there enegines.

have any of you folks have done it????
    below are some aditional information.....
let me know what you guy think!

I have about 100,000 miles....and no problems with the engine!
however when take off the oil cap I can see oil sludge right there....
it makes me wonder of much of that stuff is in in the engine....my car manuel says it has 200 ponies it sure does not feel like it!

It aint broke leave it alone. Trust me. Everyone has some build up by the oil cap. If you have done your oil changes then there is no need to do this. If anything then do a 44k (fuel injection cleaning) and tune up!!!!

    Re: lets talk engine flush.....

I wonder why Audi wouldn't recommend it. Perhaps it's because they know you can't revive an older worn engine by simply "flushing" it.

    Re: lets talk engine flush.....

Well the reason why auto manufactures do not even recommend the procedure is because they don’t want to acknowledge that there engines are prone to sludge build up…..but it is common sense that after 10 years any engine would have oil and carbon build up!
Seafoam can NOT possibly clean out an engine as good as the procedure in question.
Many auto mechanics drop big cash for these machines of course you won’t find them at the auth dealerships..but people do swear by them and claim that it brings youth to an engine.

    Re: lets talk engine flush.....

I used to drive a 91 Acura Legend, did that engine flush and i do have to say, it took out all the junk in there.. The car idle very smooth after the flush and it ran smoother than it used to. I don't know what type of damage it'll do to the seals or gaskets. I guess you really need to be lucky to find a place with the machine and guys that know how to handle a Audi.

The usual places that has these flushes are the gas stations or wash and oil change spots....

slight off topic question. what all can be done with seafoam on the 2.7t? I have used seafoam on all my previous cars in gas tank and pcv valve and the oil before oil change.

Drain your oil. Put in two gallons of diesel fuel. Run your engine at idle for 20 minutes. Drain the diesel fuel. Change oil filter. Refill engine with oil. Obtain same results as above. Take wife out to dinner with savings.

very interesting regarding the use of diesel fuel...

we motorcycle guys use that stuff to clean our chains before lubing it up.. it gets all the junk and nasty build ups out.. so maybe you got something there... now, putting it in my car.. that's another question...

haha thats my engine flush there. i do the same shit and it works great. the only problem with flushing the engine is when you have lots of sludge it tends to plug up the oil pump.

    Re: lets talk engine flush.....

I just learned today that I'm suppose to use synthetic oil each time I get an oil change and if I don't, I could actually ruin the turbo on my 2.7T. Is this true? 'coz the same two guys who told me this also said that I should get an engine flush so I called the dealer and I was told that the dealer do not perform this because it's complicated. I'm not sure if I should use seafoam or diesel to clean out the engine or even if I should be concerned. One thing that I was also told was that I should get the synthetic oil change asap (at least). Can anybody shed any light on this? Thanks.

    Re: lets talk engine flush.....

All I have to say is that if the dealer told you they don't perform engine flushes because it is complicated to please tell us which dealer it was so I never ever ever ever ever go to them. As for your synthetic oil question it will be answered shortly below this post.......

I heard the same thing with ATF.

BTW, sludge build up is the result of regular oil being used over time.
