Nobody @ home in my air suspension

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have had my allroad off the road for many months due to a bizarre set of unfortunate incidents. I had a friend put in an Inmotion Chip (mines a diesel 2.5) that failed (no fault of Inmotion) and needed the ECU to go to Austria to be repaired. Anyway..
Now it's going again but the air suspension is not working at all. It was working fine with the previous Inmotion chip. The centre console is on the lowest light (sometimes its blinking usually it's on steady), the drivers warning light is on constantly. The 'jack mode' activates/deactivates correctly. Manual mode likewise. However pushing any up or down button achieves nothing.
The car seems to drive well anyway.
I live 2.5 hours away from any dealer, however my partner was there yesterday and asked that the codes be read. No codes.
The diagnostic did say "control unit defective" but the tech had no advice to offer her as to how to proceed from there!
So how do I proceed from there?
Where is the control unit and can I reset it and/or test it.
Where is the air pump and is there a way to test it in isolation from the control unit.
    Any advice gladly devoured.

Can you hear the pump in the back activate at all when you hit the up button?

No I can't hear the pump at all. Remember there was no code thrown to suggest the pump is faulty, or any code at all.
Are the switches known to give fault? I'd suspect it's more than that.

It's been parked on slightly uneven ground overnight and currently measures 670-690mm to the wheel arches, I just ran the car and nothing has changed.
It does not look or drive 'slammed'.

i had this same problem with my car this summer. it ended up being the ride height control module. if you take the panel out on the left side of your trunk and look inside to the right you'll see it. there are several different part numbers so you need to check what one you have. it looks like this.

Ok. so I got in there, how stupid is the amount of work you have to do to get a side cover off! Demolish most of the rear of the car! Mine is a 4Z7 907 553 A 15.1528-0003.2 5SG 008352-01 00090.
How did you determine that that was the faulty unit?
Dare i ask it... how much was the new one?

    further to this saga..
It would seem that maybe in the months the car was unused and with it's ECU out that the suspension has lost it's programming. As the Audi tech stated even if I fitted a new level controller it would not go until it was reset. Does that make sense. Maybe I should get it reprogrammed? I'll keep you updated.

Further readings has narrowed it down to that controller, looks like a new one coming up...
