that may just answer my question....

but in case it doesn't, i believe a shift kit would make the stock auto transmission shift much quicker...

You mean like a software upgrade to make the auto tranny shift faster?
I don't think there are any available.

shift kits are pretty popular with automatic domestic cars. they reduce shift overlap, which is where the automatic trans, engages two gears at the same time during an up-shift. this provides smoother shifts, but robs power since the clutch packs are slipping. shift kits reduce shift overlap, and create more firm and solid shifts, which also puts less wear on the clutch packs. But the shifts are firm and can create a less comfortable ride and can exploit already weakened transmission components in older transmissions. shift kits can come in the form of mechanical upgrades or electronic upgrades (ECU)

i think GIAC has software type "shift kits" or as they call it "tip-ship" for the s4, all road and rs6. firms up the shifts and speeds them up, from what i've been told.

I dont believe that there is a "shift kit" for our car. but there are valve body upgrades from IPT and Level 10. call them up to find out more.

yep, that's what i was wondering about...

i'll have to research the valve body upgrades from IPT and Level 10 stuff....never heard of those, but then again, i've only had my B7 for a few weeks now!

    thanks again for the info!

    Re: shift kit for automatics?

b5/b6 had a tip chip, which would I assume give you your shift kit you desire. If you want to shift quicker, S mode supposedly makes shifting longer and quicker.

unless your racing your a4, dont think you need faster shifting (only thing I could imagine it being used for)

    p.s. welcome aboard!
