I have fault codes from a large leak in the Evaporative system. Every other day i clear the CEL. What is it and is this even important?

I have the same issue with my car but from what I understand it doesn't affect the car's performance. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

    Re: Evap System?

Fuel vapor builds in the tank and is sent to the charcoal canister for storage. Sometimes the canister is emptied via the n80 valve into the intake system so it can be burned rather than releasing raw fuel into the atmosphere. That's what your EVAP system does :-)

So with that said, it's an emissions item and will not affect performance.

The gas cap isn't holding pressure, the EVAP line is cut at the front passenger-side wheel, the EVAP purge valve isn't closing, the fuel pump cap seal is leaking...

These are all likely causes. EVAP allows fuel vapors from the tank to be added to the air-fuel mixture rather than vented to the atmosphere, that's all.

Thank you! I might check these places when spring comes.
