    Squeaking doors

I previously owned A4 B5 and had problems with all 4 doors squeaking when driving off-road or slowly on uneven terrain. Now, same thing happens to my S4, but a lot less since I have only 50k miles on her.

Is there a fix for this issue? Does this happen because of the rubber surrounding door openings, or metal to metal sound? Do you the same "problem"?

And one more question - can I use this DIY to change my transmission mounts?

    Thank you!

    Re: Squeaking doors

For the door, I would hit all of the pivot points and any other part that may be suspect to movement with some WD-40 and see if that would work. And iI think you would be ok with that write up. I would just use jack stands to be safe.

White lithium grease works as well for a more permanent fix.

    Re: Squeaking doors

careful, WD-40 is not a lubricant, no where on the bottle does is say it is a lubricant. It is simply a water displacer, rust dissolver and mild degreaser which can actually dissolve the grease originally intended to lubricate the door hinges. You're better off with true lubricants such as silicone, teflon, and the lithium product mentioned above. You should also never use WD-40 in locks since it leaves a sticky residue behind and attracts dust which will become gunky after time

    Re: Squeaking doors

don't use wd-40 to lubricate you fools. Use it to degrease and clean up the door hinge, then get some kind of grease to lubricate it. Don't use wd-40 on bike chains or anything either.....people spray that stuff in places where it doesn't belong too much

    Re: Squeaking doors

My driver door was squeaking and I used my brother's lube pen for fishing reels right on the pivots. The thing is pretty cool, it's a clear thick pen with a watery lube and it's fixed with a small tip for precision lubage. It worked like a charm and maybe it's me but it opens and closes smoother-ly. {Jokes} I've got to hit my passenger side door now.
Anyway, I was a bicycle mechanic for a couple of years and rode BMX for a number of years, WD-40 is NOT to lube ANYTHING! It's to degrease and helps with rust removal and penetrates rust/corrosion. Spraying a metal pivot joint seems to be like a fix but if you poured water in a creaky pivot joint it'll do the same, not make noise but cause side effects not desired in the future.
