So I figured while I was trying this out I would go ahead and make my first DIY. Now, I have to say try this at your own risk cause I really have no idea of what I'm doing but read other peoples attempts. Here is the DIY I used for the removal of the rear speakers: http://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1760180.phtml
These are the materials I used for the removal of the dust cap and glue. My wife's nail file was laying there and just so happened to work getting the separation of the dust cap from the cone.
Here's the contact cement I got from Home Depot.
So when I removed my speaker there was a little separation from the cone already.
Carefully peel off the dust cap.
Once I got it separated there was still some glue left on the cone.
This is where I used the Xacto knife to "very carefully" cut away the rest of the glue. As you will see in the pic, I actually used the back side of the knife not the blade.
Now it's all clear of the old glue.
Use the directions on the contact cement. Put it on both sides and let set for a bit.
Then I put them together carefully matched up cause once the two pieces touch they don't want to come apart.
Then for added safety I decided to do another layer on the seam to make sure it was really in place and nothing else was leaking.
That's it for me, or so I thought. I ended up checking my other speaker and came across this!
Awwww, and so it never ends. Hope this helps out in some way.
