hey all, i got a customer who wants a 350 crate motor in his 1989 305 caprice.
whats a good website/company who sells a reliable turn key crate motor for a good price?
he's looking for as much chrome as possible(intake manifold, carb, valve covers, ect...)
i found a couple sites that are around $5k. is that a good price?
    thanks in advance

You can get by with less than $5k. If it were me, I'd find an LS1 from a C5 Vette. You can get these all day long for $1,000. You'd be a wiring harness and an ECU away from good reliable power. Plus if he wants to spend extra he can do a cam, heads, intake and exhaust and make 500hp. Any 350 should bolt up to his transmission but I'd be skeptical about it holding up to much power so he should certainly consider that.

The only reason i would want to get a 350 is so i can bolt up to his freshly rebuilt 305 trans.
i dont want anything thats 500hp, but maybe 350hp or so. something to move his car, he has 26's on it.

Perfect! Buy a stock LS1 (350 hp) and a Painless wiring harness here http://painlesswiring.carshopinc.com...id/79572/65106

All you'll need to do is install a mechanical throttle body if the engine was originally drive by wire.
