    coil pack question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
my coils finally blew , would it matter if i went to a VW dealership to pick up replacement coil packs?

if i walked in asking for revision R coil packs would they know what i was talking about or would i have to travel all the way to an audi dealership?

    Re: coil pack question

they'll have them. VW/Audi share those.

    (All 4 went at once?)

Correct. How far did you drive? Based on what I learned from a post by Old Guy, you could have destroyed your cat - 50 miles could so it. Be on the lookout for a CEL with a PO420 code.

I can precisely say 11 miles. they blew on the way home , first time i checked they were red like if you were to run your turbos pretty hard. second time i checked they weren't lit.

i have a cel for a small vacuum leak somewhere , I'll definitely keep an look out for that code. are there any physical signs of a bad cat? such as smoke?

    Re: coil pack question

order the new coils online from ECS. they are the better ones and they are a LOT cheaper, just ordered a set of 4 for 113 and from the dealer they are between 45 and 65 EACH! If you're not in a huge hurry look into it

    Re: coil pack question

My coilpack blew had flashing engine lights rumbling engine and misfiring and was driving it for 3 days. When I took it to H2 sport the mechanic said I was very lucky the cat didn't blow on me. When it was diagnose number 2 and 3 were misfiring. I changed my sparkplugs, 2 coilpack and an oil change because there were gas in the oil. The cost was $260 with labour and parts.

    Eh?

    Re: coil pack question

If you decide to go to a VW dealership to pick up some coilpacks, ask the parts guy to look up the following P/N: 06B 905 115 R.

Or you can get them from GAP for $22 each.

My car ran too rich, was slower to rev and I lost about 40-70km per gas tank.

On the plus side the 'E' coils do feel smoother.
