It gets rid of the drone, but also, if you listen to an RSC exhaust, it's a lot deeper and the sound is just meaner.

I love listening to the Gallardo or a BMW E60 M5 with an RSC exhaust on it.

Its quite a bit heavier too from what I understand. I have heard it in person though on an A3 and it is quite nice

I don't know how much different it would sound compared to a regular exhaust set up. It may sound deep and low on an A3, but a regular after market exhaust may as well. Those engines are different than on the A4, so they will sound very different. Hopefully APR will chime in pretty soon. That seems very, very cool regardless. Although, most exhausts for the B7 don't have a lot of drone...

Yep. There are some companies that claim anywhere from 40%-60% better flow than the leading performance exhaust with an RSC exhaust.

First quarter of 09 it is!

I put straight pipes from the oem headers to 2 small RSC mufflers on my B6 S4. 121db outside the car, 94db inside. oem exhaust was 81db cruising, this one is 84db. No drone, just high compression V8 sex. At my last track day the Z06 guys were all over me, "What the hell is in that Audi?!?"

I know. I had to fill out requisition paperwork in triplicate and submit it to our accounting dungeon in order to gain approval for an external mic that can pick up the deeper tones. Still waiting for that.

I'm kidding of course but I've been searching for a $200'ish mic that will do the exhaust system justice as with the vid cams I have the mics simply won't pick up the sound at such low freq's and at such high db's. I just haven't had time to sort through all of the technology associated with mics as its new to me and make a decision.

For those of us who bought the current, regular APR A4 catback and like it for it's nice tone, but get annoyed with the resonance on long highway drives, any chance of being able to purchase just the RSC mufflers and welding them in place of the non-RSC canisters?
