4:12pm, Cherry Hill, NJ - Finish Christmas shopping for Mom. Pull out of Bed Bath and Beyond and onto Rt. 70 due west. The clouds have given us a wintry mix of rain, ice, and snow.
Still in the right lane going about 45, a Minivan pulls out of some back street and clips my front passenger side, impacting from front wheel to rear wheel. We both pull over...ask if eachother are OK. It takes the cops 25 mins to arrive.

This sucks.

Let me know what you guys think. I'm gonna go emo for the next few days until the adjuster comes.

It definitely impacted the front passenger wheel. Alignment wasn't too bad but there is a slight difference.

I doubt it would be totaled, but it's hard to say with the high cost of body work and the age of the car. That minivan did a good job of taking out that whole side.

where as the wheel is visibly damaged the appraiser will allow for an alignment without question, even if it appears to be cosmetic dont let them jip you out of an alignment you are definately entitled to it

no were near totalled. man.. i had the same hit.. except 100times worse.. my wheel caved in, new suspension,,tie rods..control arms.. etc etc etc... and they're fixing it.. basically if ur passenger door opens freely.. u have nothing to worry about.. no frame dents or anything, just a fender and a couple door skins..

I am no insurance adjuster...

But I would guess:
- puddy up the quarter panel (corner by back door that was hit) 300 bucks
- passenger rear door looks like it might just need to be repaired 500 bucks
- passenger front door could probably be repaired but would be better to replace door, or at leats door skin. 750 bucks
- front passenger fender to be replaced 200 bucks
- Looks like front bumper cracked in lower corner, so will probably need to replace bumper cover - 200 bucks
- wheel alignment 100 bucks
- wheels scuffed or bent??? i'll leave that out for now.

Doesnt look like doors were pushed in, just the skins were scraped so probably doesnt need to be pulled. Do they open like normal? or do they shut hard. (watch when opening so they dont grab the lip of the front door or the fender and bend it more than it is.)

So thats roughly 2000 for parts then guess another 1500 for labor and paint.

So my uneducated guess is 3500 to 4000 to have a body shop do this.

I bet you could get it done for half that though. I honestly dont see it costing much more then that

Moral of story, even at 4000 I really doubt they would total it.

it should be cheap to fix nothing is really broken. i would have your suspension and alignment looked out if it was a hard hit. the front bumper can be fixed as well but it could be time for an upgrade if you get paid to fix it

It really hurts to see my car like this...but I am thankful as it could be much worse.

2 weeks ago some punks decided to use their special pens(screw drivers) and art capabilities on my car..not ot mention the kicks and blown windshield and the insurance did not total my car..the cost for the fixer upper was 8.900 CAD and its now getting a full strip to get a brand new paint job..these cars can hold alot of value still so from what ive seen in the pics it shouldnt be enough to total the car...IT WOULD BE A CRIME TO DO SO

I think they will fix that. the doors need new trim and some filler, and then a new front fender. I would estimate the repair at between 2-3K

Well, first I would ask what their offer is to total it, but most likely, since there's not much structural damage, I would choose to fix it.

Adjuster coming Friday...I told her I'll take it to a shop of my choice so she gives me a check.

I guess I'd better start looking for parts now.

A friend of mine said I should wait until Spring to fix all of this. That seems so far away! Seeing my car like this hurts so much I wanna get it fixed up ASAP, but then again its probably one less ugly season the car would see...

Any accident sucks, as Im still trying to find another car. It looks bad, but is def repairable. Try and take to it a shop that you know or a good shop that you know of that can work with you on it. Maybe get some upgrades at the same time?!? . I wish mine was only body damage...

That sucks but at least your ok. Last year some buddy hit my S4 and took off and never did find out who did it but there was $9900 in damage to the car. It was hit on the driveside and it took out my ic and then who ever hit it just kept on going and put a huge dent down the side of the car nad then to top it all off the insurance company goes out and gets me a kia for a rental. But in the long run it was not that bad since I got a new ic fender two door panels so it was like my car was brand new but with 189000km on it.

looks bad but far from totalled. u will need an alignment but thats not to say that the tie rods and control arms are all okay. theres definantly gonna be some suspension pieces in there that need to be replaced. much more than an alignment will be needed to fix that wheels position

find a good cheap shop and make a good expensive estimate, maybe there money left for wheels or upgrade...deff not totaled!

Yeah, sucks, but opportune time to go widebody:) I would wait til spring. I had a fender bender in my B6 in the back left corner and not long after I fixed it someone brushed it in a parking lot in winter. No bueno.
