The friggin doors are frozen!! All of them!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Okay so I was driving around last Sunday in Chicago/burbs and well waz kinda glad it was 40's and raining rather than below 0 and snowing on my summer tires . When i got home and i opened my door and woosh...a good amount of water trapped between my door and the bottom frame of my car where the S4 emblem is, rushed to the floor. This isnt the first time i noticed this either. Has rained before and water seems to collect in between. No clue why but i dismissed it thinking its no big deal. Well guess what happened?? Woke up today and went to warm up the S4 and my door is frozen !! Oh well i think to my self, its chicago, its winter, and it happens...okay lets just go to the passenger side and open that up...and lo and behold that doors frozen too!! Now im a bit annoyed...ahh wtf, stupid audi's...ur made in germany..im sure it snows out there so this would be a common problem!! wateva...i haven't opened the back doors in a while so there should be no water in between but, today is not my day! Turns out all my friggin doors are frozen !! I mean come ON...well thats my rant! Has anyone else had this issue?? Does water collect between ur door and the s4 emblem? Have all your door been frozen before? Or am I just unlucky on one of the coldest days of the Winter?

Yea. The audi seems to let a lot more water in under the doors than either of my Lexus's did. The doors sometimes freeze up a little after a wash but a solid tug has always cured the problem right away. My trunk on the other hand doesn't like the cold. It opens no problem but below about -25C it doesn't like to close constantly.

Try some silicone lubricant on your weather stripping. It reconditions it so the rubber won't stick to ice or other junk. Makes it easier to close and open doors.

there are little drain slits on the bottom of doors. your drain slits can be clogged with debris. Take a straw or something of that sort and clean them out.

Damn Sunny, that sucks. Only in Chicago will it go from 50 degrees to 9 degrees of freezing rain litterally overnight. I drove home in it too which was pretty scary. Is your car in the garage or outside? If its in your garage get a space heater and let it run in your garage for a little to warm up, if its outside lol good luck since its pretty nasty out. no problems here today. other than driving on summer tires with 3" of snow on the ground. conti2s suck for winter driving....do not attempt. those conti extremes are my next purchase or a set of winter tires and moving my conti2s to a different rim.

and as funny as that is, it would never work. The windows freeze easily. Much easier than it must take to freeze the door.

I've been in the snow for a while, and I haven't noticed the doors freezing anywhere other than the hinge, which doesn't stop me from getting in. Furthermore, I've never once seen a build-up of water in between the door and the frame...

I park my Jeep outside sometimes and I really have to yank the door to get it to open. I still dont know why I live here.
The Audi is taking up garage space and still spring clean. No problems opening the doors in there.
Also ive never had accumulation of water in the door jams.

Re: The friggin doors are frozen!! All of them!!

yeah so when I first read this thread I thought it was hilarious and impossible at the same time until it happened to me.....last night!!!

EVERY FREAKIN DOOR!!!!! But I was home and not in any rush. I tried all the doors to see which had the best chance of opening without breaking anything. It was the front passenger door and what I did was used my hand to apply light pressure all around the door frame. And then it opened. I was pushing inwards to help release the froozen seal. And eventually got in. Then I pushed the drivers door open from the inside and I was good. But...be careful. Because 30 minutes later while driving the rear doors defrosted and my rear door open indicators both came on.
