Probably a leaking coolant block plug. I had this, too. Car would lose coolant slowly, but there was no sign of a leak.

Audi has a Techincal Service Bulletin out about this problem. Take it to the dealer and it should be a free fix.

Its BEHIND the engine block....Not the silver piece i circled....just look under that...Its a black plastic piece going into the back of the engine. I JUST replaced mine 2 days ago....a BI@&TH to get out without the right tools...and small hands would help

oh....and look good...i bet you will have a bunch of white "baked" coolant around there

look for coolant remains on the top of the transmission, if you see a weird coloration then your flange on the back of the head is leaking. If not that then look under the car from the front and look for that coloration on the oil pan and front of engine which would be coming from the water pump. The pump is behind plastic pieces though so you cant see it. And hope for it to be the flange on back of head because water pump is a much bigger job since the whole front needs to be taken apart.

Even though I'm a complete Audi n00b, but wouldn't the headgasket be the obvious issue.
