Milltek non res cat back vs res full system

    Hi All,

I know that there are many posts that talk about the differences in exhaust systems and that the best thing to do is to actually hear the different systems before making a choice as it is a personal thing.

I have been in a car with the non resonated Milltek cat back system and liked the sound.

I am contemplating a Milltek full system with DPs and resonated cat back but am worried that it will be too loud.

Can any of you share your experiences if you have heard both systems on a B6 S4

Also what kind of power gain can be expected from the full system

    thanks

Resonated with downpipes will not be too loud at all. You are making the right choice to control sound.

In terms of power we have some dyno plots on the site and many others can be found from online customer searchs.

As Pete said it wont be too loud at all if you go the DPS and resonated route. The Milltek resonated catback is extremely quite by itself. The DPs will give it that extra sound

I Went Through The Same Dilemma Several Months Back. I Opted For The Dp And Non Resonated And Loved. I Live In The Washington Metropolitan Area So During The Summer It Gets Hot And Most Of The Time I Have My Windows Up. And With The Resonated It Would Get Too Quiet. It Really Is Not That Loud. I Personally Think It's Perfect. The Sounds Is Brutal And That's The Exact Reason Why We Upgrade Our Exhaust.....lol Hope This Help..

i had a resonated system and it was to quiet... sounded almost like stock to me... ended up cutting the resonators out so i could enjoy the sound.

Re: Milltek non res cat back vs res full system

You really need to check out the GMG system. Imo it's far better in quality and sound than the Milltek, and it's less expensive. There's always something about aftermarket systems, too much resonance, too loud, too quiet, ill fitting etc but my RS4 is the best sounding car I've ever had. Whoever is making the GMG has made a simply perfect exhaust for the RS4.

Re: Milltek non res cat back vs res full system

I personally prefer resonated. There is nothing more annoying than having an exhaust that drones or is too loud... it makes driving very irritating.

If you were in a car that was NOT resonated... isn't that the louder option? So if you got the resonators you'll have an even quieter car, not louder. I think that if you liked the sound of the car you were in, then just go with the non-resonated.

V8's sound so awesome with a nice exhaust....

I have the full Milltek non-res & DPs. Drones under 2000 rpm on load, very quiet when cruising, incredible sound from 3000-8000
I would like to get a ride in a resonated version just to see the difference. There's also the 30sec+ of race car type sound at start up with the rich mixture, that's pretty loud too but that may be an RS4 thing only, I don't know.

Curious, did you get the catback exhaust and DPs at the same time? or catback first then DPs? Wondering how much louder it got when adding the DPs. Currently I have Milltek non-res, planning to do DPs. Just worried it'll be too loud with DPs.

I wonder what an s4 would sound like with aftermarket dp's and stock mufflers???

Ha, I just noticed that. That's crazy!

I had Milltek resonated and Milltek dp's on my B6 S4 and it wasn't loud at all. Absolutely no drone but it was a little tame for my taste.

Sorry, whole thing was done together, but IMO I think you will like the DPs from what I've read. There is plenty of anti DP talk here, but power or not it's a sound to make anyone smile

edit: and Ed sais resonated was tame, so now you have no choice, you're trapped, go!
