    naah..
I've done it a million of times... your windows might not work properly for a few mins, but it will all reset itself.

    Re: battery removal

Depends if your factory radio needs a code or not. Most likely it doesn't but in most 2000 models they do... So windows may not only be the problem... Just a heads up. And the Audi dealerships charge about 100-120 just for the code.

    Re: battery removal

You just have to reprogram the windows for auto up/down. You do that by cycling them all the way down/up 3 times in a row for the front and back. The radio is kind of a crap shoot. I have never had to enter mine. If you have your radio code you have nothing to worry about. Main thing is getting the leverage to get that big ass battery out of there and still have a functioning back afterward.

Check manual. Check for sticker in trunk (sometimes found in earlier model years).

I found my radio code in the manual for the radio, not the car manual itself. So I would check that if you have it.

    Re: battery removal

    code is in radio manual

But aside form radio, no real issues. had to remove mine a few weeks back as I had not driven the car in two months and battery light came up. Wanted to have to it checked out before spending ( Anyway ended up being alternator $$$$$$)
Battery is in a weird spot so if it doesn't have a handle ten yeah leverage is key and watch your back :) Mine was a VARTA with the doubel handle so I just pulled it out with one hand and use the other to brace myself against the car.
You'll need to rerset a few things like windows auto up.down but it is all easy and spelled out in the manual
    Have a great day, Brice

    Re: battery removal

Yeah my code was in the radio manual also but the radio had been switched out!!! So it didnt work and AoA want $60 dollars to unlock the radio. I bought a new symphony on ebay for $45 total. New radio new code and didnt have to mess with AoA.

    Re: battery removal

yeah, really depends how cool your dealer is. I personally have never needed to get one. From what I gather, its not like they just type in your VIN to get it. They have to talk to the motherland computer or some shit like that.

Heres a way around the dealership cost... call up your local Audi dealer or maybe another dealer out of town. Say hey this is "JIM" or "Phil" any mechanic name works... say yea this is Jim from "Joes Tire shop" use a real tire shop or battery store name in your area... and say we replaced a battery on this 2004 A6 and now the radio says code what do i need to give ya?... the VIN #... the audi service guy will say yea shoot me the last 8 digits and boom he tells you the code for free.... this works on any make or model... and takes a phone call and some creative thinking...
