    Re: Monthly payment tread..

Its tough to judge this b/c there are so many factors involved.

Purchase price, down payment, trade in?, credit rating, etc. Titanium S Lines are quite rare, so they still sell for $30-32k depending on options.

I'd also scour the classifieds/ebay/cars.com/autotrader as well.

    Re: Monthly payment tread..

monthly payment varies on what you purchased the car for, also the interest rate, and the amount you put down on to the car at the time of purchase.

I paid 34,100 for my 2008 a4, and my payments are 464 after taxes, but mine was a lease with 3k down including all drive off costs.

go figure what the retail price is and invoice price is for the car that you want to buy based on what kind of packages it comes with, and you can go to www.kbb.com for this.

that will give you a better idea and you can usually go check an online loan calculator that will estimate payments based on APR, down payments, and length of loan (48, 60, or 72 month loan).

If they're only giving him $2100, its clearly something they dont want. Why not try to sell it outright as an alternative, or a higher down payment?

As I said, there isnt much bargaining on the Ti/S Lines b/c they're so popular and rare.

You can get a better monthly payment on an 08 BMW M3 right now. BMW has their 0.9% financing right now and I've seen payments for 08 M3's for around $500.

Only $2,100 down is going to hike up the payments a little bit though. I put down more than half on my car and my payments are a little under $300.

    Re: Monthly payment tread..

what are you trading in, if you dont mind me asking. 600 is wayyyyy to high for an old model car. Even when I wanted to finance the car, it was going to be 450ish a month...how much are you getting the car for?

for 600 a month, I say get an s4, should be around that price. Dont forgert, last model car, they want to sell and will negotiate with you.

    Re: Monthly payment tread..

where did you see a new m3 for 500$ a month with only the posters 2100$ down? Ill go buy one right now, I have never seen a 60,000 car for a payment of 600 a month with almost nothing down. If he is financing with only 2100$ down, a payment of 600$ for a used car with the horrible interest rates they usually give you sounds about right. They are probably asking for around 34,000$ for the car

On a side note my payment is 570$ a month for my 08 s-line ti A4 with every available option but mine is a 15k lease with no money down(tired of losing my entire down payment every time i sell a new car after a year of ownership). I would look around, the car is used so you should be able to find something cheaper.

ok so im going to tell you this right now, Please do not negotiate with salesman about monthly payments on car!!!!!!!!

Please negotiate what the purchase price is of the car. that is all. They can hide costs and fees and up the selling price of the car if all you do is negotiate monthly price.

remember you are negotiating what you are BUYING THE CAR FOR. not how much you are going to pay every month till the car is paid off. you will lower your monthly payments by having a smaller purchase price on the car, and a larger down payment along with a lower interest rate, which will remain the same based on your credit when they do their credit check and approve you for a loan

    Re: Monthly payment tread..

good. its obvious they are fooling you. that is where they are upping the cost already on the car. you can see it.

how can a dealer go from 660 to 595 selling price instantly? that means on a 5 year loan, 660-595 = a 65 dollar difference a month in payments, times 60 month (in 5 years for a loan) = $3900 they took off the selling price of the car just by you "negotiating" for price. which is the amount of profit they were not telling you they were going to make. a dealership will not take a 3900 hit to sell a car. there is room for you to get a lower price.

I understand that they need to make their money too, but being good to a customer is also being up front and understanding what you are paying for.

You can still negotiate what your payments are, but that doesn't mean shit if you don't know what you are actually buying the car for.

Sounds like they're hitting him with the four square. I assume he isn't leasing. Typically on a 60 month terms with a decent interest rate you finance about $20.00 per $1,000.00 borrowed. So a $30,000.00 car would cost you around $600.00 bucks a month on a purchase.

$600+ a month is way too much to spend on a car payment. Have you looked at any other cars? Maybe an audi isn't the right decision right now. Do you pay rent? mortgage? If you're still at home, this car payment will likely strand you there. Might want to take a hard look at your options before jumping into a monthly payment like that.

    Or...try another dealer.

    Re: Monthly payment tread..

All you really have are four factors of concern: 1. purchase price, 2. down payment, 3. finance interest rate, 4. length of loan

There are a few ways you can drive down the monthly payment, but realize.....sometimes a lower monthly payment doesn't mean you are paying less in the long run.

The best way to drive the monthly payment down is to knock the purchase price down, because it makes your down payment go farther to reduce the remaining amount you must get a loan for. If you're putting $2,100 down, knocking $3,000 off the price of a $30,000 car reduces the amount you're gonna need a loan for by a little over 10%.

The next best way is to put as much money down as possible, again to reduce the amount loaned to you.

Finance rate is pretty much non-negotiable, and depends both on the banks offers and your credit rating. Sometimes, you can find special offers on interest for certain years/models. In my buying experience, the dealer had a special finance rate ONLY for 2006 A4's; the 05.5's, 07's and 08's had almost twice the rate as my '06.

The only other way to drive down your monthly payment is to take a longer term on your loan. However, this is the most risky way because it drags out the amount of time you must make payments, and sometimes it can even have an impact on the interest rate; the longer the loan, the higher the rate because you're taking longer to pay it back.

Hope this helps you fully understand the dynamic, and what you can do to work down the payments!

In my buying experience, the dealer had a special finance rate ONLY for 2006 A4's; the 05.5's, 07's and 08's had almost twice the rate as my '06.

    great summary.

Before you sign anything, find out what intrest rate they are charging you and what your "out the door" price is. if you are going to pay 600 plus a month, with $2100 in positive equity, I hope that the loan is a 36 or 48 month at a sub 7% apr. Also ask them who the loan is with, if it is with audi financial, then audi will have a maximum mark up of say 3 to 5 points (estimate) over what the dealers buy rate is. if it is through an outside lender, then a lot of times anything goes and that is where you run into ridiculous rates of 15 plus.
