Sun Roof Knob

Does anyone know how to remove the sun roof knob on pre facelift cars. The rubber crap on it is peeling off and i want to take it off to repaint it. I cant figure it out and don't want to break it. Anyone remove this before?

Guess Ill just have to pry on it with something, I tried just pulling it with my hands, didnt want to break the damn thing. Thanks for the the help!

Yes, it just pulls right down.

If you mean the knob on the control, then yes it just pulls right off.

+1 - if your going to repaint then gently grasp it with some pliers and it should come off. Sand it down and spray it with a spray paint meant for plastic. Did mine a year ago and it still looks new

If you want to remove the entire unit, there are screws under the light cover (I believe there are 2?) and then the whole unit comes down with 2 connectors holding it.

For some reason, mine is pealing too. Its funny cause everything else in my interior is MINT and then theres this one peice that looks like it was a replacment from a junkyard. Im gonna do this over winter break. Anybody got any good idea's as to the color paint?
