    good muffler for b6 s4?

Hi I recently got a 05 b6 s4. I find the stock exhaust system too quiet for my liking and would like to get it sounding more beefy. I would get a cat-back but that would cost me 1000$+ which is not really worth it in my opinion. Where can I find a cheaper one?

Hey xzone, welcome to the forums...to be honest, cat-backs or a full exhaust is the way to go and deff worth the upgrade. just switching out the mufflers is a patch job on a great car, in my opinion (and lets not forget, your car is 3+ years old, so do you really want to just slap something onto an old system?).

If its about the money, and you really want to get out the most beefy sound from our B6's, just save up and do it right. Again, this is all in my opinion, your s4 is yours, do what you want.

welcome to audizine. i heard some people used flowmaster, but you really don't want to do a half job. i have milltek catback and really love the sound. there was a guy on youtube that had flowmasters put in and it didn't sound as refined as a catback. its your choice but i would save some money and buy catback in the spring time.

I went with an exhaust bypass, that'll get you a really beefy sound and a good bit louder too! But not too popular on the forum, but If I had the money, I'd go with a full millitek system or something of that sort. But couldn't justify 3g for exhaust. Just my view, but serious props to you all that can and did do a full setup! ! !

But if all you care about is sound, then before you order just mufflers (if that is the route you want to go) then take it to the shop and have them just cut off your stock mufflers, drive around for a day or two, if you still want the new mufflers, then order them and no harm done. But if you like it with no mufflers, then you can get a Y-pipe bypass system for about 150 installed instead of spending 200 per muffler plus install. Just something to think about.

Could you PLEASE post a sound clip? how is your car dealing with the loss of back pressure?? do you feel less power in the lower RPMs?

If you don't want to spend $1000+, take your car to a reputable exhaust shop and have them custom build you a catback exhaust. I paid $835 for 2.5" i believe with street Magnaflows and custom x-pipe installed. I couldn't get the race Magnaflows since they were 3" and that is too much for our cars. It sounds really nice and loud but you actually lose torque. With my setup, my car has a low, deep grumble around 2k rpms but gets a bit quieter and higher pitch on the higher RPMs. The loudness can be compared to that of the 2004 G35 Coupe. Its not loud but it is noticeable. If you're bent on getting a name brand system, check out the classifieds. There are a few catbacks for sale.

Look for a used setup- 500-700. You wont regret it. Go non-resonated

Not that I have beacoup bucks or anything close, but man, if you gotta ask how much then why did you get a S4 to begin with? It's a gorgeous top-notch ride. Live a little and buy a decent exhaust for it. The car is worth it.

not trying to sound like a dick, but if you cant spend 500$ for an exhaust, maybe you shouldn't have bout the s4
