    B7 S4 -> RS4 widebody

    I might as well start this post. This has taken longer than I'd hoped but at least now it's getting somewhere.

    Without a doubt, the only reason I even thought of doing this is Billi's B6 A4 -> B7 RS4 conversion.

    I was rear ended on the highway and there was significant damage to my rear bumper, trunk, both quarter panels and various other small bits in the rear. Also, I was pushed in to the car in front of me (I was in traffic at a complete stop) and caused a few scratches to the front bumper and hood. In addition, my hardwired radar detector came undone and swung like a pendulum to crack my windshield.

    First, pics of the car wrecked:

    Both sides look like this. Both rear doors are misaligned and don't close unless you really try.

    Limited damage to the front

    Re: B7 S4 -> RS4 widebody

    They were going to custom build out the inner wheel housing to meet the widebody quarter panel but they didn't feel comfortable doing that, so we just ordered the OEM RS4 wheel housing and are waiting for that. I hate waiting for parts! According to them, no ETA so I could be waiting for a little while.

    Pics from today (I forgot my camera so only cell phone pics ):

    Here you can see there is a little gap between the metal housing and the quarter panel. This is one of the parts they're waiting on. I hope the quarter panel already being on doesn't make it hard to install...

    Looks like I'll need new wheels since these are very tucked.

    You will need both doors as the swag line is different on the B7.

    No, that's not what I'm doing. The front parts are en route. Shitty thing is I'll have to re-do the S6 LEDs if I want to keep that theme. My front bumper is in pretty decent shape and can be easily restored...maybe somebody that wants to have the S6 LED mod can buy it from me...we'll see.

    Are you keeping the S4 fronting and trying to mold it to the fenders? Or are you going for the RS4 front? I would want to do a widebody on a B7 S4 and keep the S4 front bumper if possible, personally.

    No, I'm getting the RS4 bumper. I don't want anything custom done to the car right now. I'm kind of glad they're not building out the wheel housing and going OEM.

    Who knows, maybe the S6 LED will be an easy fit in to the RS4 bumper down the line if/when I want to do that.

    I have a rough estimate on cost but I'll wait until it's all said and done.

    They unfortunately are not an easy fit, not if you want it to look nice and clean after spending all that cash to wide body your car.

    On a B6 you will have to change all doors. The door handles are at a different height on B6 compares to B7, and they have a different profile-line on them.. (sorry if my english is a little crappy:) )..

    Sorry, I should have said easier. I'm sure there has to be some cutting of the bumper but I doubt it's worse than my S4 bumper! I won't do this mod for a while though if at all.

    Thanks. The adjuster and two shops don't think so, so I'm hoping they're right. I did a little poking around myself (untrained eye obviously) and didn't see anything that stuck out to me.

    I asked about cost earlier because 2007 RS4 can be had now for about 40,000 give or take. I wonder what your car + widebody conversion cost is going to be. Hopefully your insurance is funding most of this.

    off the top of my head, ~5k for parts? I am considering this because the car will be paid off shortly, and I have all the mods I'd want if I got a new car...say $5-10k for everything, I essentially have a B7.

    I would have had it repaired, got diminished value from the insurance company and traded it in. Spending more than you need to on a wrecked car puts you even further into a hole than you otherwise would be. It will never be worth much to anyone, especially now as a masquerade RS4. Never understood upgrading a car to look like something its not, it's like flushing money down the toilet.

    I never understood people who can't understand that people like make things of their cars which is not the same as other people.

    In a nut shell we call it modifying, modifying our cars to look or to perform like something it is not.

    with a paid off car, i think the price of the conversion would be better than buying a new car.

    Re: B7 S4 -> RS4 widebody

    please please please....

    invest the money on a S/C kit for your car... with the opportunity to run some meaty/wide tires for all that crazy power, it would be an insane beast!

    Any ideas on wheels? Remember you can now fit a 19x9.5 in there ;) Actually a 19x9.5 with 29 offset all around and 275/35/19 tires will fit perfectly with no rubbing. (that's how I'm set up now)

    Personally (and my opinion only of course, not saying what you're doing is wrong) I would've tried to custom fit the front and rear bumper of the DTM S4 onto the car. I know it would be more of a headache and all, but it would make for an "only one of it's kind in the world unique car". I was planning on doing the wide-body fenders, rear doors and side skirts back when I had the S4, with the S4 DTM front and rear bumpers, but after figuring out the costs... I got the RS4. Although in your case, insurance would be taking care of it, might not be a bad idea!

    well good luck man!

    please please please....

    invest the money on a S/C kit for your car... with the opportunity to run some meaty/wide tires for all that crazy power, it would be an insane beast!

    I kind of agree. The look of a DTM front end, and maybe even the rear end, on the RS4 widebody is something I dream about.

    yeeessss... how sick would that be to see the glorified b6 front end with wide fenders. I think that would look gorgeous.
