I have a whining noise when I start the car up. Its only when the car is cold. I remember someone else posting this problem but I dont recall what the name of the problem was or I would have searched it by now. I would like to bring it to the dealer so they can fix this asap.

    Thank you

    Re: Whining

I had that as well last weekend. Kind of sounds like there is a supercharger around 2k rpms. It disappeared after 3 minutes and hasn't been back yet..

    Re: Whining

I have the same issue everday I start the car. I know it's not the heat, because I have a heated garage and it's always low 70s in there, the car was serviced not too long ago and I don't have 40k on it yet.

    Re: Whining

Same problem here. Its been there since I bought the car over 15K miles ago. I remember reading that its a tensioner bearing or something like that. Been meaning to dig in there and fix it, but its kinda hard to find the motivation to pull apart the front end when nothing is really broken.

Even if this is the case, I'd still like to know what is causing the noise...

    Re: Whining

The whining is there when I start my car, never really seen it as a major problem.

    Re: Whining

Its the Emmisions pump, or something having to do with the emmisions system. Its normal. If it were a bearing, the whine would not go away, and would actually get worse.

    Re: Whining

I had a similar whining noise but it ended up being my alternator was slightly loose in the engine bay and it was from the belt. Kind of an odd case though I doubt it happens very often...

    Re: Whining

Sounds like it's the belt tensioner bearing and it is NOT normal. Mine was fixed under warranty. Lots of posts on this subject.
