DTM Front Bumper: Fog Light Fix??

For those of you that switched the dtm front bumper, how did you get the "foglight out" warning to go away? can i use vag-com to shut if off??

Oem 25th s4 front bumper. It is made of abs plastic.

I do agree with you that there's gotta be a way to disable it via VAG-COM since DTM fronts don't come with them.

Worst case is that you can run a set of 55W resistors to make it think that the fogs are still in there.

There is a field in VAG-COM that allows you to turn off what is called the "Fog Light Cold Diagnosis" which means that the system won't check to see if there are fog light bulbs and won't throw the code.

It's found in 09 Central Electronics, Adaptation Channel 16.

Unfortunately, the field is locked and is not accessible in the US A4, not sure if it's locked on the S4 or not. I ended up having to use resistors to kill the warning light on my A4 when i put the DTM bumper on.

I doubt that you will be able to get the inline resistor from radio shack. Usually they only carry circuit resistors.

Your best bet is to check you local hobby shop or online. If I remember correctly from my LED install, you will need a 50 ohm/55W inline resistor to make it work.

This is exactly what I just did on my car. 2007 US 3.2 A4 Quattro. It was not locked and caused the dashboard warning to disappear. The only time I ever used fogs was to help me see potholes in the rain. Even then, they only helped a little. I'll miss them for that, but not much else.

I bought the OEM DTM bumper, but no CF lip. I'm pretty sure I'd eventually scratch or crack it on a curb, and it'd be purely cosmetic as I no longer track this car. IMO, the car looks fine without it.

I bought mine from ECS. Shipping was by freight and not cheap. Maybe stealership would've been cheaper.

I think I figured out why some people say it's locked. If you're using the free version of the VCDS software, then it's the software - not the car - that doesn't let you change it.

Here's the function chart. I'm not sure whether or where Central Electronics is covered, but I was definitely using the latest full version of VCDS and I definitely disabled it on my car that was bought from a US dealership.
