yeah i have a custom plate.........its boostedd so eight letters and its not to much at all, probably depends on the state, but you also get charged yearly for it, def. worth it in my opinion

I have a custom plate on my civic, cost me an extra $50 everytime I have to renew my registration.

I believe the max is 8 characters

You can go on the DMV website and try to create your custom plate, it also will tell you if that custom plate is available or if it's already taken & in use.

I just got my vanity plate a couple months ago. And it was $60 for the plate, then I had to spend an extra $6.38 for the experation stickers. So that was a one time fee.

Now every time I renew my plates it's just an extra $20 on top of the normal fee's.

And I only have 5 letters, but you can have up to 7 here in CO.

One time fee here too... you get your special plate and then from here on out, pay the same 'yearly plate fee' as everyone else - custom or not.

I believe MI is $35 if it has both letters and numbers, some states charge more if there's no numbers.(like IL)

I don't know the minimum, but it depends on the plate as well. I believe you have to have 5 on a standard plate, and up to 7/8.
