SOO frustated .. someone help please!!

So as I'm sitting at the lights, I hear a BOOM and then my car dies. I start it back up and I have a battery light on and I cannot turn the stering wheel its hard as hell .. My guess is stering wheel belt? If anyone knows what's going on please let me know!

You're thinking of the Serpentine belt. It drives the viscous fan, alternator and the pwr steering pump. (on a 1.8T that is.)

You would have to look for damage, but it's possible that you can put a new belt on and be good to go. However, it's possible you have a bearing failure on the tensioner, P/S, idler, etc. Take a look.
