B6 Modded S4

Question, will a modded b6 S4 (exhaust DPs, Chip) beat a stock E36 M3 on a heads up Strait race. I know the story on a race course, but what about a 1/4 mile run.
The story is my co-worker has a 02 M3 and he wants to run me. I want to know what my chances would be with these upgrades.

an 02 is an e46... quite a bit diff than an e36. My freind had an auto s4 and I had a 6mt 02 m3 with k-s exhaust and I walked him.

...E36 M3 0-60 is about 5.6s...B6 S4 is 5.4 stock...you would take him...however, an 02 is an E46 (E36 stopped production in 99), and thus you will definitely have a close race on your hands. Could go either way based on the driver...good luck

oh, and...what's the story on a race course?

on this short course with the same pro driving both cars there was a full 1 second difference over 1 3/4 miles.

Watch the video that towards the end there is a s4 that races a modded m3.

i've owned both, and despite the mods, the S4 will loose if you are referring to e46.
As for the e36, you will win. You could always take it to the twisties if you want to win.
I don't miss my bmw at all after joining the S4 camp a few months ago. Just a better car all around and feels more solid.

I beat my Dad's E46 stock for stock. I always feel though that Audi didnt make these things uniform. Some S4's seem stronger than others.

Or some drivers are vastly different from others.. Driving an SMG is usually FLOOR AND GO. driving a MT6 s4 deff depends on the driver, and there arent very many good drivers....

This is true too but I feel my father and I are around the same level. Both Manuals. We switched and the outcome was the same.

1. 8cyl motor / AWD Drivetrain (heavy)
2. Straight6 motor / 2WD Drivetrain (Not so heavy)

After about 50-55mph, your fat piggy will start to fall behind

Yes but you were saying that Audi isn't uniform about making their cars, so your argument would be legit if you and your dad were both racing two stock S4s.. not m3 vs s4.

What?? Are you kidding? Our S4's are the fastest cars EVER! You'll blast on him from a dig and pull so strong in every gear that by a 1/4 mile he'll have a hard time distinguishing your two tail lights from one! Race him and then tell us all about the sweet KILL!!

Thats the euro model. US e36 m3 is more like 6.1
