C4 A6 door problem

So, I just picked up a C4 as my winter car. I absolutely love it so far. 154K, heated cozy seats, nice quiet ride ect. (Complete opposite of my A4 )

So today in Minneapolis is rained, then the temperatures dropped to about 20. I went out to my car and noticed my door was frozen shut. Being the dumbass I am, I tried to pull it open. I am pretty sure I broke the cable that goes to the latch.

Outside handle AND the inside handle do nothing.

Does anyone know how I can get the door open so I can pull the panel off to fix this? Or should I just take the trusty jig saw to my inner door panel. I work up at A&P and we have spare C4 door panels on hand.

Anyways this thread sucks without pics. AZ plate frame FTW!

The only possible way I can even imagine is taking the fender off and trying from that route. There has to be a better way than destroying the door panel.

Ahhh, this is why you have been hanging out here. Isnt the panel a couple of screws and clips?

Yes, but I would need to take it off with the door shut...

We just parted out a C4 at A&P. So I am hoping the interior is the same color.

Damn I completely missed that the door was shut and you had no real access. Did you try the good ol' slim jim/coat hanger grab the latch method? I think that would be possible.

Not yet. I am pretty good at that. I've done it several times to my A4 when I locked myself out or forgot the latch the door when I had the panel off. Shaved doors can be a pita!

i will try the jimmy method tomorrow in the warm shop
