since I gotta be replacing the both fenders soon, and do need parts painted and also might need to repaint doors as well, I'm thinking to shave that molding out.
does anyone done or seen it without molding on doors?
to me that is something shouldn't be there.... it's just on doors and not following the body line to me..

Since I'm planning to repaint side of car and fenders I might give it a shot and get that shaved for more smoothed look.

supposed to get my bentley book this week sometime, so I'll see how easy to remove, since it's not a big dent there I might be able to fill with fiberglass and smooth it out instead of welding the metal strip there. I'll see.

it is one guy that rebuild an a6 allroad Q with wide body , and add an s6 look , but when he finish the sides he went with no molding, i guess is a little work , but if the finish is smooth and clear should look good special if u have a dark color on your car.

Be sure to weld the holes shut. I did everything on my A4. mid trim, low trim, handles, side markers ect.

there are a bunch of holes behind that molding, i just replaced one of mine on my 4.2. oh and its just held on with body tape, nothing a heat gun cant handle.

I'm pretty sure that is taped on, because we had a 00 Passat, and it started to peel. Exact same stuff thats on my A6 as far as I can tell. There could be holes in the middle of it I guess, IDK.

driverside got hit and run earlier spring 08 then another hit and run last month on passengerside....
so that's why I'm replacing both..

50/50 on trim removal. noticed chrome strip under head light blacked out to. would look better if headlights where blacked out

well mine, headlight is blacked out already, so paringin those chrome trim darker to match the side mirror(since I have mirror painted in dark.) I got smoked side marker today too
so I need to paint fender now and put on, then start workin on shaving the molding out. then paint chrome pieces after.

The black and gold look is always pretty cool. Have you had any issues with that grill. I sold mine because the hood latch moved and the hood was stuck closed. I had to use some long needle nose pliers to grab it.
