    235/35/19 or 245/35/19 dilemma

Before I get flamed, let me first make it known that I searched for about 4 hours last night and could not find the answer I am seeking. The wheels I will be getting are 19x8.5 with a 38 offset. I know my two main options are 235 or 245 tires with a sidewall aspect of 35. My first question is will 245's rub when I lower my car (i want the tires flush with the top of the fenders)? My second question is, is ther any stretch with a 235 on an 8.5" wheel? I absolutely hate the stretch look and want the sidewall of the tire to be flush with the outside of the wheel, with no "step" in so to speak. If anyone has a close up pic (directly behind the tire, showing lip) of a similar wheel tire combo it would be a tremendous help. I appreciate your time and help with this issue, all input is welcome.

    Thank you,

    Trent

I don't think you will rub. I have 235/35/19 on 19"x8" et 35...don't really have any close ups though, but I have room to spare.

    Re: 235/35/19 or 245/35/19 dilemma

The 235/35/19's are FLUSH with the wheel on 19X8's (actually stick out past the lip just a tad, but that might just be the design of the tire, I have Falken FK452's). I like the fat tire look, plus it helps protect the wheels from curbing. If you are going with 19x8.5 a 235 might have a slightly stretched look (and I emphasize the slightness). The 245's would look nice and full. Notice the pic above on the 19x9's, the 245's are slightly stretched, you can see how the sidewall slopes slightly and isn't straight up and down like mine. On and 8.5" wheel a 245/35 would look very similar to my sidewall profile.

I snapped a few more pics for you, Pardon the dirty wheels, etc. It has been raining. (that, and my wheels are old and need refinishing):

i doubt 245s would rub because the wheel is ET38. i have 235/35/19s on an 8.5" wide wheel ET35 and i dont rub and theres still some space between the tire and fender lip....enough space to make me want spacers. my 235's are slightly streched, so if you don't like the look of that, i'd suggest 245's.

Thank you for all you put into an answer for me. I will go with the 245's which I am sure will be exactly what I am looking for. If I end up with some rubbing after I drop it and the sapcers don't take care of it I will downsize to 235's. I appreciate your help!

if it rubs, spacers would make it worse (assuming the rubbing is between the tire/fender)....

right, i was more worried about it rubbing in the wheel well, with an offset of 38 being pushed in so far
