didnt think making a new thread would be right, so editing this one

So i found a ecu that is already giac chipped and am planning to buy it. The quick question i have is that my cars a 1997 A4 (1.8TQM) AEB motor. The ecu i am planning to buy is a 99.5 A4 AEB motor (i believe it is a 1.8TQM)

The Part Number on my ecu is: 8D0 907 557 M
The Part Number on the GIAC Chipped ECU I am planning to buy is: 8D0 907 557 P

Does that last M/P difference cause any problems?

I've been searching google/audizine for a while now and can't figure it out.

My friend gave me a spare ECU for me to run until i get my current one back from chipping. The Bosch ECU Number is 4D0 907 551 AH

does anyone know what car this ECU came out of? and if i can run it in my car (1997 Audi A4 1.8TQM) for a few days until i get my Chipped ECU back.

    thanks for the help

    Re: ECU Number?

looks to be an aha ecu (v6). btw, the bosch part number will more than likely be some 026 number. the # you quoted is the audi part number. there should also be software version number on the tag on the front as well.
    contact via email please.

    Re: ECU Number?

I am not sure. i am not sure in 97, but my buddies 98 1.8 is the same last 3 digits as mine.. 557 P.. which is 1.8t, 5 speed and quattro.. if your car is that. i think the last three of the computer you need to use, would be the same as mine. Not 100% on that though.

    Re: ECU Number?

It will work - all DBC B5's can exchange ECU's - if it was different than your car you need to change the softcode - if it was a TIP you change it to a manual - quattro to FWD

    Re: ECU Number?

I assume you've upgraded or ordered a new DV. If not your going to need it.

    Re: ECU Number?

The stock one needs an upgrade because it can't handle the increased boost over time. It might last a couple days, but will fail.
