Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So Im crusing through an intersection thats a little rocky and all of a sudden my MFA displays "left headlight dipped". So I pull over, no dipped light.

2 seconds later my left headlight flickers on and off.

Im a little confused. Is this a bulb or a leveling motor issue

i searched and there wasnt any solid answers anywhere

Def. not the leveller. Most likely the xenon bulb.

    How old are your bulbs?

    Re: "left headlight dipped" ???

could be the bulb going out or a loose connection on the headlight itself

Your bulbs are going to die. They are quite old.

It's not the connector which has quite a tight fit. The burn-process gets interrupted by vibrations.

You'll be surprised how much brighter the new bulbs will be.

6 years old xenon bulbs still work??

    Re: "left headlight dipped" ???

I'm having the same issue right now. I occassionally get the "left headlamp dipped" warning and I have noticed some flicker from that headlight. Mine are also 6+ years old (Aug 2002). Anybody know how much new xenon bulbs cost?

    Re: "left headlight dipped" ???

i keep occasionally getting the "right headlight dipped" warning but i have no flickering or anything. But let's say by the off chance it does start to or the bulb goes out and i want to replace my bulbs, could i replace them with a higher kelvin bulb without having to replace the ballasts and crap too? Cause i'm pretty sure that mine are the stockies as well. I want to upgrade to a 6k bulb.

    Re: "left headlight dipped" ???

take connector off from behind the headlight. make sure it is clean and then re-install it. Make sure it is all the way on and properly in place. when i replaced my bulbs my driverside connector was not on perfectly. I thought it was, but it was not. I took it off, cleaned it with electrical connection cleaner and then re-installed it. works fine now. sometimes the connections just get loose or dirty.

Do xenon bulbs go out that fast? I was told that they last the entire life of the car.
