And hello again... Okay here's my dilemma, i'm choosing between D and E version. Other then E version's screen being bigger what are other pluses and minuses on these two?

    Re: RNS-D vs RNS-E

    Main concerns:
    1. Playing DVD Movies?
    2. Navigation
    3. MP3's?
    4. Bluetooth

    Re: RNS-D vs RNS-E

I don't know too much about the RNS-D. I think that the main differences are that the RNS-E has 2 SD card slots so that you can play music on it. It also has 1 navigation disc for North America. The RNS-D has like 10 to cover the same area or something like that.

The only issue with the RNS-E is that if you get a Euro spec one, you'll have to get the software upgraded to the North American version.

The RNS-E also has a larger screen and looks much better. Do a search for RNS-D and RNS-E. There are plenty of threads that should have the majority of the information that you're looking for. Also see if anyone who has installed one is active on the forums and send them a PM. They can give you first hand knowledge.

    Hope that helps.

    Re: RNS-D vs RNS-E

The RNS-D was what was used in Europe prior to 2005. So the RNS-D is almost 4 years old now. Big improvements were the switch from CD based navigation to DVD based (more info can be stored on a DVD I think), the addition of MP3 SD card slots (a big plus in my book), bigger screen, bluetooth compatibility, and more updated look and feel. Both RNS-E and RNS-D will hook up to the B6, so no worries there. It's worth the extra money to go RNS-E.

Anyone know a good source to pick up brackets to make the RNS-E flush in a B5 S4? Also, I read that the RNS-E's from 2010 onwards had a "HD" screen?? Any input? Searching for an RNS-E & thinking that I should keep an eye out for 2010 models & newer...thanks in advance~ ^^

Bumping a 5 year old thread I see. Yes, the newer model rns-e have an led screen which is nicer than the previous years. IDK about the B5 brackets but Im sure someone in the B5 A4/S4 section can help you out.

I've got a 2010 unit but it's still a MK1. You want a MK2 unit of you want the high resolution screen and ability to read SDHC cards
