Going to school in San Diego (UCSD) and being from the bay area, every year I have to drive down and then back up, which is about 1000 miles on the road..Therefore in order to make my trip FUN i usually do random stuff to my car to get weird reactions from ppl, here are some pics of the STUPID Things I do:

Read the book "The Driver" by Alexander Roy if you havn't already. You remind me of him. He actually drove a B5 S4 before switching to the M5 for the Gumball. Great book!

I did the same thing while driving from Columbus, OH to NC... But it was with green tape on my mkIII Jetta VR. But I also had green racing stripes. I do love the "time attack style" lip you've got going on.

um which way do u go san diego? its only like 600 tops from san fran. also you should just get a clear 3m bra very cost effective. cant ever see it and it provides total protection!

Winter. We have pretty mild winters here in OKC(As far as snow and ice) and after i hit 25N out of denver it got nuts. I did this back in Dec of 1999. Drove through the rocky mountains on a doughnut thanks to a blow out. Fun stuff! I drove to Seatle pretty much non stop and then on to AK.

I envy your road trip man....Drove from L.A. to Des Moines, IA in exactly 24hrs in a big suburban once. I think its time to drive NYC to LA and see how long it takes, a little slower than Alex Roy's 31 hours or whateva..

I suggest anyone to make a trip like that atleast once in thier lives. I could not do again at 31yrs old. But its a blast when you have no schedule. I saw quite a bit of the US.
