    What jack stands do you guys use? I picked up some 3-ton stands at Harbor Freight, and they don't fit under the car at their lowest height when I'm at the max height of the jack (stock jack).

    ....you're supposed to be using the stock jack for emergencies only. Go get a real jack so you can avoid damaging your car or killing yourself when that POS breaks.

    I've got a Duralast jack with two Duralast stands.

    Do not ever use the stock jack. Its the biggest POS ever - you can cause damage to your car and/or yourself. If you are always gonna pull the wheels off, get a real jack. Do a search on the forum(s) and you will read plenty of horror stories.

    I remember I had a 2 ton "real" jack and I couldn't get my car on all 4 2ton jackstands so I used the car jack to get the 3rd wheel up. Well let me tell you that my car almost fell off the jacks except I luckily let the car down in time. Never use the stock jack if you don't have to.

    Btw for taking off all 4 wheels on my A6 could I use (4) 2 ton jackstands and 1 3ton jack?

    it broke while i had a wheel off. my car was on the ground with only three wheels while i got a lift to walmart and bought a real jack

    i was able to use the widowmaker on the side of the road to swap a blown tire, but from now on i'm gonna keep a real jack in there. that POS scares me.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. The first time I ever used the stock jack, I thought to myself this is the biggest POS I have ever used in my life. Thanks goodness I was changing my tires in my driveway and not some street somewhere.

    I just have 4 snap-on jack stands that I bought from the snap-on man.

    just bought two craftsmen 2 ton jacks before thanks giving...i just ramps + jacks.
