Ok. I'm kinda new here. i was hoping to make a better introduction than this, but i have a bit of a problem. My headlight switch went out a couple days ago so i did my SEARCHING ( ) and found a DIY on audiworld. so got it all fixed up last night, but now i have headlights and nothing else . No Corners, no tails (except for brakes and fog), no dash lights, and i have to manualy lock each door. Any ideas???

Nope no cuts or anything like that.

EDIT: i just drove it and the blinkers aren't working. Might i just have to pony up the money for a whole new headlight/blinker assenbly?

    Re: Headlight Switch

If the switch had a meltdown, you might have burned some wires as well. When mine went out it took a good deal of the plug on the ignition switch and the plug for the headlight switch and never blew any fuses.

    Re: Headlight Switch

Ha.. I was with my buddy and we were cleaning his 99 1.8t and when we were done he flipped his headlight switch on and nothing happened, but he still had fogs, interior lights and tail lights that were on too. He found out that his relay burnt out in the headlight switch.

Also, check to see if your cruise control works, because then your entire relay for the cruise/headlight arm (the left side arm that sticks out from the steering column) might be burnt out. To fix this, you need to take the steering wheel off and disarm the air bags. I suggest letting an AUDI mechanic do this. My buddies cost around $120 to fix.

    Re: Headlight Switch

Definitely don't need a mechanic and you don't even need to disarm the airbags. Contact A-P Specialties here on Audizine and they can sell you a perfectly good one for a lot less (I think I paid like 35 bucks)

    Re: Headlight Switch

What?! 35$ just paid 170 for one at the stealership. they wanted 400 to install it. I LOL'd and asked to have my car back. But i ended up having to buy the switch from them. Installed it really easily too. Thanks for all the ideas though.

p.s. The airbag won't be an issue as long as you disconnect the battery first.
