    CO's for dummies

So this is the first time that I will be doing a suspension mod other then the RS4 RSB. I just moved to South Carolina and the roads are not the best, frankly they are absolute crap. I am hesitant towards getting CO's in part due to the ride factor but from what I have heard the ride for PSS9's>stock sport. I want to lower the car, reduce role and so on but I don't want to rattle my self on the highway on the 45 min commute each way. I have searched the forums and have found some great information, but I still don't feel confident with my stance on the subject.

I have been looking at this review trying to narrow the choices and I think I am looking at the Stasis Street Sports, Track Sports (classifieds), and PSS9's.

The area that I am fuzzy on is the difference in spring rates, 515 F/R for the PSS9's and 600-700 F & 900-1100 R for the Stasis Track Sports, 450/440 F/R for the Street Sports...Here is a reference link that I have found in my search efforts http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...=coilover+list

BTW I would like to get into some tracking in the future but this is at least 6 months away.

Some one sell me on one of these!! I just want to get this thing dropped with the right setup on the first attempt. Please indulge on your opinions..

    Thanks Everyone!

Streetsports will be very similar to what you have now. PSS9's are nice because you can adjust the dampening iirc, so you can make it stiffer for track days but soft for DD. Tracksports are fairly stiff and lack the adjustability that Motorsports do, plus they've been replaced by the Stasis SL's (which seem to be superior to the TS). Spring rates are also a factor, and that's fairly dependent on what you want out of the ride. If you're worried about getting rattled on the highway, I would steer clear of the TS. SS would be compliant but you'll find them too soft for tracking the car. I would reccommend the PSS9's as your best all around coilover. Please take this with a grain of salt, as suspension is a VERY subjective thing...what classifies as stiff for one person will not be stiff for another person. The best thing you can do is try to find someone who has these coilovers and go for a ride to see what you like the best.

Also, FWIW, I have Vogtland coilovers, so I'm not partial to any of the above.

Deff agree to his opinion, i have pss9's on my car...i love you can adjust the damping/rebound in a min on all 4's. They made it so the knobs are at the bottom of the shock to ease adjusting. Cost was higher than i wanted to spend (1600 shipped) but i think it was worth it, i could of gone with the KW v3's but they were higher in price..my brother has them on his a6 and the ride is great..but adjusters are on top of shock so you have to take off the suspension to adjust them, or drill holes at the top to access the knobs.

extremely well put. especially the part i bolded

I always hear people say : "just get ____ and be done with it"

or some other stupid comment like that.

people have different tastes, comfort levels, and needs for their car. not everyone's the same. also, just because you rode in someone's car that had pss9's and liked it, it doesn't mean that you wouldn't like driving with vogtlands or stasis even more (or vice versa)

    good luck with your search.
