    1.8t wont start... fuel relay? fuse?

    So my b5 1.8t sat for about 2 weeks while I have been driving my a6 trying to sell it. I started it up once and it was fine, ran it for 15 mins and shut it off... came out to start it up and take it to the tire store and it doesnt do anything.
    Makes noise like its turning over but not... so figured battery. since the safe code was on my radio and the lights were super dim. So tried jumper cables. that didnt work but gave the car a little more life while trying to turn it over, so battery might be just junk, it has been cold here at night. So went and got a new battery. NOTHING. just the same, but it tries to pop but doesnt do anything. Now what could possible happen while it sits, I drove it, parked it and it was totally fine.

    help....

    also, I put 2 gallons of gas in the tank trying with the new battery thinking the gas might be bad or something.

    I dont think that it would be flooeded. If it was just sitting.
    Look over your stater and see if there is anything there. (problem)

    don't mean to thread jack or anything. I just had these problems today. Car would crank but not start, got battery tested still putting out 14 volts and everything was fine battery is only 2 yrs old..finally got it to start and was driving and heard thud thud thudd and everything flashed and car shut off, but started right back up....

    could it be the fuel pump or filter? where are they?

    so u can crank it over but it just wnt turn over, i dnt think its the starter cause its sill cranking it could be ur alternator not charging all the accessories.

    Check the ecu and see if the chip came out of its socket by chance. The main fuel relay in under the steering wheel. Youll have to do a search to find the exact location. But if you remove the panel under the steering wheel it gives you access to it. looks like this;

    Re: 1.8t wont start... fuel relay? fuse?

    Yup it was flooded, took the fuel pump fuse out, cranked it over 20 times, let it sit for ten mins and then put the fuse back in and away it started. Huge black cloud came out the tail pipe. Drove it for a few hours and it was good to go.
