Pulling out a newb question about tires and rubbing.

So i'm looking at a perspective set of wheels that is 19x8.5 et32 with 245/35/19 tires. I wonder if I'm going to be rub with my setup. 24.5 in front, and 25 in the back...My current setup with 235/35/18's don't rub at all with an offset of 35. But the widened tire, and extra 3mm is worrying me.
    Any ideas?

I would say no... maybe if the offset was like 30 you would have the rub a dub.. it'll be close.. I'm sure some one with this exact set up will chime in soon though.

i have 235/35/19's and im rubbing with a 10mm spacer = 245/35/19. my wheels are 19 x 8 lowered on stasis ss. i actually had to raise the car because the rubbing was sooo bad.

Yeah, but what is the original offset of the wheel you are running?

235 plus a 10mm spacer would be equal to a 255, not 245, since you are adding 10mm on only the outside.

Not to mention you can't compare anything you said with the original poster because you did not list the offset of your wheels.

My RGRs are the same specs as those wheels... 19X8.5 et32. My ride height is 24 even.

I need to run 225 width dunlop sportmaxx in order to not rub. Keep in mind tire manufacturer plays a big role.

Re: Pulling out a newb question about tires and rubbing.

Depends on the tire manufacturer too...the shoulders are different on many tires.

I run a 245 on the rear with a 19, ET 35 and used to not get any rubbing, my subframe shifted slightly and now I get a slight rub (just enough to make the tire shiny) on the drivers side.

A tiny bit more negative camber would probably eliminate it, getting a new set of tires this weekend and will see whats up.

Seems like the tires wont work then if you require 225 to not rub...The tires are Toyo T1r's and I doubt they run narrow.

I would, I'm pickign these wheels up used. And the tires come with the setup as 245. If i had my choice, it would of been a no brainer of 225/235.

Check them out, IIRC the T1Rs might actually run narrow. I know those tires are decent for stretching if your into that. 245 is wide though...

Can't check them out either...He's in Socal, I'm in Michigan... The last thing I want to do is spend money on wheels and have them not fit. Sigh. They are one of my fav wheels too. :(. I'll have to look into it, and see maybe if I can roll my fenders. Even though I know the fronts won't roll too much. I'd think my rear is ok. Thanks guys.

I ran 265s on the rear with a wheel of ET32 and no rubbing at all.

Re: Pulling out a newb question about tires and rubbing.

Thats pretty damn wide in the rear. Why would you run a 265 in the rear and probably less tire in the front? Do you like understeer or something Greg? [:P]
