is it true that having different brand tires (although the same size i.e. 255x30x19) can destroy the tranny on a quattro?

different brands may be a slightly different size even thought they say they are the same.. will it destroy it fast. no. but it does put a lot more wear on the center differential because it has to make up for the difference in rotation.

Re: different tires on a quattro

when i bought my a4, the previous owner had put different tires at the back. The car didn't drive straight for like 8 months, even went to a suspension specialist. Then read some where that quattro doesn't like different tires so i changed all four and wouldn't you know it, drives straight ever since.
