Euro Price revealed for Audi S4...starts at $50,800 in U.K

LONDON — Audi has released official prices on the U.K. edition of the redesigned S4. When the cars go on sale in Britain in April, the S4 sedan will start at $50,800, and the S4 Avant wagon will be priced from $53,200.

Only the S4 sedan will make the transatlantic trek. It is expected to go on sale in September as a 2010 model, also priced from around $50,000.

The supercharged 3.0-liter TFSI V6 in the new S4 is rated at 328 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. U.K. customers can order either model with the optional Audi S tronic seven-speed twin-clutch DSG transmission, priced from $1,800 to $2,100.

The new S4 will jet from zero to 60 mph in less than 5.1 seconds. Top speed will be electronically limited to 155 mph.

In the U.S., the current S4 Sedan 4.2 is priced starting at $49,385.

Inside Line says: The new S4 gets a much-smaller-displacement engine with fewer cylinders, but boasts a better acceleration time and superior mileage. Not a bad trade-off. —

there have been some rumors that the new S4 will be priced below the outgoing model to be more competitive with 335's and to increase sales. hopefully we'll find out US pricing in detroit in january...

In pounds , it was around 30,000 which was then converted to dollars and the value came out to be $50,800.

Why would Audi take a car which cost millions if not billions to redesign and charge LESS than the older model? Now I REALLY want the S4 but it might be a tough call than the 335. If the S4 doesn't have the new gen MMI it might be a deal breaker as I am quite impressed with the redeisnged i-Drive. Not to mention dual clutch transmission is scheduled to be offered with the 335 around the same time as the S4 release. This is going to be a fierce competion between the two German rivals, I'm loving every second of it.

in hopes of selling more than before. i'm not saying it's for sure, this is just what the guy told me at the dealership. but it does make some sense. they didn't sell a ton of B7 S4's, so if the B8 is a better car with an even or ever so slightly lower price tag maybe it could actually compete in sales numbers with the 335. i think it's fair to say the 335 sold a lot more than the B7 S4. partly because it performed better, and partly because the old S4 cost more (when optioned).

but i agree. it seems like there will be a great rivalry between these two cars now. and personally i think a slight dip in price would greatly help audi's chances of winning the battle.

the pricing in the UK is always higher than in the US, when converted

if the price was 50,800 when converted, I reckon it'll be mid 40s to start over here

it has to be cheaper than the S5, as Audi has made it clear that while they're nearly identical, they want the S5 to be a 1/2 notch above S4 (as with A 4/5)
