Has anyone done this? I'm thinking about doing it, want to know if the license plate would actually hold.

    Re: License plate mount

it might hold if you have strong enough magnets, but it would scratch the crap out of your front bumper i would think...

    Re: License plate mount

I'd say just slap it on when you're parked in the city. I've never been cited while driving, ALWAYS while I'm either in a parking structure or in a busy city (LA & SF). Cool idea!

    x2...

And why not just put the mags behind the cover and then stick the plate straight on..... less magnets needed.

Yeah, if you get earth magnets, they will hold while driving, just cover (like stated above) the parts that touch the paint with felt.

    Re: License plate mount

It will hold and it's easy to do...highly recommended. and for those who think they drive too aggressively for them, I doubt it...I drive as aggressively (but not stupidly) as anyone I know and mine doesn't fall off. Main thing is I never really drive with it on. I've only gotten tickets while parked somewhere so I just put it on and when I park in one of the "danger zones" and take it off when I leave. I forgot to take it off a few times and it was always still there when I remembered. I only use 8 rare earth magnets total (4 on plate and 4 behind filler) but if you are really worried, just use more. And felt on the magnets attached to the plate defeats any worries of scratches...One of my favorite "mods" since I hate front license plates and don't care for euro plates, just clean.

I do WHEEL REPAIR and HEADLIGHT RENEWAL in the Atlanta area

Chrome window trim hazy and oxidized? I can fix that, too!

If it's in the automotive refinishing business I can either do it or know someone who can!
