Question on car value?

I was thinking of selling my car via private party, but I'm always worried that with market conditions being what they are, it won't go. Just as a mini pre-classifieds-feeler, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they think there'd be any interest in the following:

I hate to break it to you, but you are not going to get 19k based on what I have seen on sale. Have you taken the time to research how sales of similar A4's are going in your immediate area? I would take some time to look around and then price the vehicle competitively.

Another factor to consider is the fact that the B8 platform was recently released. Previous generation models tend to decrease in value drastically as a new generation is released.

I Just bought and 04 A4 1.8T with 41K miles, it wasn't a quattro but it looks exactly like yours and I paid 12,900 for it so good luck selling for 19k it's a buyers market right now.

i just got my car for 13,700 but i have 79k miles on mine but it does have apr stage 1+ already on it.

make sure your CPO is still transferable.. if it was certified before 8/06 then it is (w/ a fee), if not then it isnt.

hate to break it to you, but there is a B6 S4 selling here for 22 g's with like 50k miles on it, there is no way you will get 19 g's for your car

I'd say $16k is a fair number, if you market it in the right places. Unfortunately, the mods aren't going to add value to the car; in fact, it may turn some people away. Good luck

Lol I tried selling my Audi for like 3 months... I started the price at $16,200 and then lowered it to $15,700 and nothing... So then I lowered it to $15,500. I got like 3 bites but none were serious.. Its a tuff market, but good luck my friend...

By the way, why do you want to sell a perfectly good a4??

I luv cars. Every year or so I starting thinking about getting a new one. It's a vice of mine. I'm like 31 and I've had 14 cars in my life. 3 audis, 2 BMWs. I was eye balling an 06 530xi the other day. I know cars are a bad investment... sigh. Pretty much it's the only vice I have. pretty much... :-p

I took a tip from my wife who is a real estate broker and researched 'comps' (comparables - or market prices) for a B5 A4 I sold this summer. My info sources for asking prices included craigslist (my local market), Edmunds.com (TMV) and cars.com. Study the asking prices for the cars most like yours and you will have a pretty good sense of the market.

I then priced my car a tad high to test the market, then lowered the price a bit after a couple of weeks - and few nibbles. I noticed dealers doing this.

Though I got a lot of response to my craigslist ad (I tricked out the ad to include more/larger pictures) the guy that bought the car saw the listing I placed on cars.com - so it was worth the $50 or so for the advertising.
